I understand now, and Completely agree.

It would be much simpler if light companies marketed in PPFD instead of Watts

I'm sure that's true. Scumbags gonna scumbag. There would be a single universal unit of measurement for light intensity though. Easier for consumers to navigate those shark infested waters that way. The whole industry seems designed to capitalize on both customer ignorance and desire for secrecy.
