i did have the right .. till i lost it by committing a crime ..so i took my right away to protect myself with a gun
If you committed a crime involving a firearm then I would agree you should never have the right to own a firearm for protection. However, I think if someone committed a non-violent non-aggressive felony such as forgery that when their sentence was over they should be able to have a weapon. I think this should include probation. The right to self defense is sacred.

we can agree to disagree .. just feel like if you commit a serious crime such as a felony ..you choose to break the law and loose some rights .. maybe your right that it should be only for violent crimes..have to think about that part a little ..my only thing is you chose to commit the crime so if it is any crime which is a felony and you knew this. you have to take responsibility for your actions and the current reprocusions

So you think if 18 year old Joe Blow gets arrested @ a phish show with a 1\4 of mushrooms he should lose his gun rights for the next 60 years?
if he is 18 yrs old and has no record he will not get a felony.. i was arrested when i was 18 yrs old house was raided had no record.. and had more then an 1/4 oz of shrooms..and bc first offense and got youthful offender status and was dropped down ...you are respoible for your actions..period

Depends on the state.

First of all, who made up the statistics are are they really true? We have freedom of speech and there is freedom of information in the USA like few other countries. This is why when we get into discussions of national healthcare and people want to compare it is impossible. They are different systems with different reporting methods, definitions and standards. It is like trying to compare apples and oranges. Lets not even start talking about the possibility that the government 'statistics' are manipulated by the 'government' to say what they want.

Our unemployment rate looks great because we stop counting people looking for work after a while. It is not a representation of the actual unemployment rate, rather some mathematical creation used for political purposes. Inflation seems really reasonable when you ignore all the things that are going up in price like food. If you are not actually tracking all of the inflation then the number is meaningless.

We are not in competition with Canada to see who can be more socialist. Well, I am not, maybe you are. But if you look around and see the standard of living we have, the free access to emergency health care and the fact that our poor have televisions and TV's we are not failing at all.
"who made up the statistics are are they really true?"

Umm, its pretty easy to count dead bodies with bullet holes in them.

Lol
How about the Lautenberg amendment or the things that they change to felony every year.
Big question. Would you be afraid of Martha Stewart owning a gun?

yes i agree but just saying in my personal case ..so go back to my original statement if your 18 and which means your an adult ..you are respoinable for your actions

You plead a felony( its absurd that's a felony) down to a misdemeanor.. You can't sandwich in all felonies, its really dumb... There is a huge distinction between a guy with molly or coke or acid or shrooms or a lb of weed and a guy who's pulling stickups for a living or carjacking old people @ red lights.

if you are doing somthing that you will be charged for a felony ..then you are choosing to take away your own rights to own a gun ..i believe in self responsbilty of your actions..want to keep your rights then don't do a felony ...its really simple ...like i said I'm a felon so I'm not saying something i wouldn't want done to me and all mine are non violent also

I'm a felon too, few ounces of blow 18 years ago when I was 19 years old.. I will relinquish nothing, they been telling us we can't grow or smoke too.. The only reason they starting to cave is because we overgrew them..chalk it up to a ridiculous law that I won't be obeying.. What's next ? Felons can't vote or lose free speech?

i see it as totally diff with freedom of speech and if I'm correct felons lose right to vote also..like i said if you was so worried about losin these rights should of not had a few oz of blow in you..and no one is forcing you to listen I live in an illegal state to grow .. but these are risk that I'm willing to take and alos i except the consequences if i get caught ..

Everyone gets charged with s felony.
And if you can't afford a lawyer. You have a pretty good chance of it sticking.
Public defenders are shit that sell their clients out

I hear the number of annual gun deaths here frequently but most of the time it is not disclosed that 75% of those are suicides. So the statistic is already misleading. You can come up with a statistic to support or reject any issue.

Felons lose the right to vote in a handful of states, but not in most states.. In Vermont, you can vote in jail and prison.. That's how it should be.
really i dditn know that ..that is news to me ..the voting thing i believe you should get you right to vote back after you served time and off parole or probation ..but while your in jail is ridiculous ..you weren't in the right mind state to be in society and commmited a crime ewhy should you have a right to vote ..

Just to inform you. in 1968 they made it illegal for felons to own guns. It was called the gun control act of 1968. But most people referred to it as the "keep guns from niggers act"
That is what the law was intended for.

You just demonstrated your own point that you can come up with a statistic to support or reject any issue. Good for you. I'm not trying to "win an argument" nor is suicide any part of what I'm saying or have said.

I'm just saying that gun owners are the only ones that can bring down the rates of gun deaths by accident in this country. Focus on cutting the accident rate with gun ownership. We are way out of line with other developed countries.

Simunition should be made available to the public for live training. Let the people who really wish to train do so. The dummies will weed themselves out.
they'll also weed out as bunch of innocent people with them, too.

for example, more toddlers killed people with guns last year than terrorists did.
