Cloning Problem

I am using a 30 site EZClone and cannot figure out why the hell my clones are not making it, out of 30 clones i wound up with 6 clones, The cloner runs 24/7, I am using the air pump (that came with it) for extra oxygen I used 4 gallons of RO water with 4 ounces of Powerclone cloning solution, and then i added 4 drops of Superthrive. I also cut the leaves back and set the PH to 6. The temp is at 75 degrees and the humidity at 50% I have a fan running 24/7 and an exhaust running 24/7, lights are on 18/6 They look fine for about a week then they start turning yellow and looking bad. The stems protruding from the bottom side of the neoprene usually try to bend up and over the course of a few more days they get real soft like they are rotting out. The few clones that do make it started showing roots at about 14 days.

I just used an ez-clone 60 for the first time. I only tried 3 cuttings just to try it out and all three rooted. Keep in mind that one cutting was also blooming. Heres what i did. Mine holds 10 gallons in the res. I filled almost to the bottom of the manifold, or sprayer. I used regular tap water (my PPMs from the tap are 200) I added a quart bottle (small bottle) of Olivias cloning solution). I did the usual, cut at 45 degrees, shaved the outside by the cut a little, and let about an inch and a half hang below the neoprene collar. Next I dipped them in clonex, and also put a little clonex in the reservoir. Put em in and turned it on. I use a T5 light over it and keep it on 24 hours, I was told to keep it on all the time, i don't know if this is your problem. All 3 rooted in 7-8 days.. Hope this helps! bongsmilie

I also use a 2' T5 but have been only running it 18/6, I was also told that dipping them was a waste of time because the EZCloner just rinses the dip off. (anyone want to weight in on this?) and i also shaved the outside. I will be trying again soon

Yeah i was told it got washed off too, so what i did was let it sit in the gel for like a minute, then poured a couple drops in the res. This might have been a waste, but i had the stuff so what the hell. Keep the light on 24 though, alot of people have told me to do this.

I've also read in the instructions NOT to use distilled water. I guess that would steer me away from the RO water too. Try it with tap water next time. :peace:

I never understood the use of cloning machines. I have ~30 clones in a tray w/ clear dome in 2x2 rockwool cubes. Cut at an angle with a razor blade, dipped in Clonex, fed bottled drinking water under 100w of CFL 8" above them on 24hrs.

2 weeks all still alive, only 2 looking like they might not make it. Ive probably ran through a few thousand this way with an average 90% success rate.

Ill only start feeding them once I can pick them up by the stems and the cube comes with em :)

Yeah, let me know how it works. One of my cuttings was from a plant in her last weeks of flowering and it rooted too! I'm gonna try one with just plain water and see if it works.. :joint:

keep it simple....just like this and let em do their thing. low light and keep em moist. i used to over think it and was always fuckin with the cuttings.now i do it just as described above with a 80-90% success rate.

I also dont understand why people waste money on all these cloning solutions and so called "EZ-Cloners".....

Its not needed. All thats needed is a half ass humidity dome and a tray and a rooter plug at best......I think peeps having issues are not prepping the clone or cutting it properly....

Clones are actually extremly tough and super easy to grow. They dont need alot of light or water and especially dont need all those expensive additives and stuff.
