Opinions needed with pre harvest Trichomes

Hey guys. I got this plant, smells real pungent and is almost or even ready for harvest but I'm not so sure what's going on with the Trichs.

It's a BigBud and its already got a lot of ambers on it, I don't actually see many milky Trichs though. I'm stumped and would really like to know what you think from the pics.

It's been growing indoor and is about 9 weeks into flowering

The picture is from a clipped off piece of leaf from the top of the cola, and, while BigBud is indica, I would prefer not to have 100% amber trichs on it.

Hey. Thrichs can be without cloudy but with amber. So as you said they are full of amber I would get harvest.
Have a great yield.

I think that, because it's BigBud indica, I would expect to see plenty of amber's in there but not without them being milky first. Still puzzling me. Hate that couch lock feeling and I can never be arsed to get up and cook something when I get the munchies

I'd chop it. I've had some blueberry skip over the milky step as well. Not quite as crazy as yours, but went clear to amber with very little milky. It's odd, especially with that amazing trich coverage.

Pick of the whole pant would be dandy...lights off obviously

You could always pinch a tiny bud and dehydrate it. It'll taste like shit but give you an idea of where you're at. About 4 hrs at 105F.

Thanks a lot for your opinions. It seems like the consensus is to harvest That's exactly what I just did, to one of them anyway. I never seem to get a bunch of plants that are all ready at the same time....one out here, one out there, 2 out the next day. It's quite annoying to say the least.

Anyway, I started flushing a little over a week ago. Smells very pungent. Hope it's not too strong. I know it's only BB but I have a pretty low tolerance with THC. I consider myself to be very lucky

I think it's nice when they finish a day or 2 apart. Gives you time to trim and clean your scissors haha.

Let me know how your big bud turns out. I harvested mine on the 29th of last month. It's currently curing. Haven't even tried it out yet, patiently waiting.

Hehe when you say 'clean your scissors', I take it you mean smoke that lovely residue it left behind

No problem Joe, I'm sure your patience will pay dividends. Luckily enough, I have a bit of smoke hanging around for long enough until this is dried and cured. If not, I would most probably try a little after the 1st week of curing but I think I'm gunna take a leaf out of your book and be very patient, maybe after 6 weeks or so

If they become very deep/dark red the plant has degrading thc. Clear is inmature. You want the majority to be in between these two extremes, mostly cloudy.

I just didn't want to take the chance of the trichs all redding up without most of them becoming milky first DG89. The Mrs would most likely have to cart me to bed in a wheelbarrow.

I'll post a smoke report next month.

Pic of the whole plant and at least one major cola would be good as already mentioned. There's more to maturity than trichs and even lighting can play tricks with your pics/trichs. A sampler would give you an idea as well.

It looked ready. I just use the trichs as confirmation. I never used to, but after finding this forum, the first thing I went out and bought was a PC Microscope..... but anyway, this one was stumping me hence the question posted.

I actually can't really tell from photos if a plant 'looks' ready to chop from just looking at the buds or the main cola. I mean, yeah, you can get a good impression but actually, I think that nobody could even say with 100% certainty that they are from a photo. That's why I just upped the trichs pics. Besides, my camera ain't the best anyway

Oh and there WAS only one major cola, had it growing 12/12 from seed

There are many growers in here that have grown enough time and strains that we can just look at the plant and know whether it's ready, that's why I asked for the pics. Trich pics are good and final confirmation but the overall maturity of the plant is the telling sign. Another factor I use is when the plant slows its intake.

Trichs can be funny....

I did Northern lights #5 for 12 weeks then chopped and the trichs never really turned. It was supposed to be an 8-9 week strain like most. It was a pretty near flawless grow. Those girls stayed green ways past 10 wks.

Then my last run I did Black Ice which is also an 8-9 week strain and the trichs went crazy amber by week 6... but I had problems that grow...

So I think trichs turning have everything to do with environment.

Another factor is that calyxes should be swollen and most pistils should have turned color..

Also do smoke tests as the plant progresses to peak maturity so that you have a better idea of when to chop in the future.
