My OG kushes keep losing smell/flavor?

So I have found some strains that I am happy with, but they really do not smell the same in a jar. I have been at this for about 4yrs and it is hard to get everything right, I usually have to focus and learn one thing at a time. Now, I think it is time for me to pay attention to my curing method!
I thought that it was a no-brainer, trim everything off of the bud 1st and let it dry until the stems would break and not bend. Then, put them in a jar??? Am I getting them too dry maybe? I have to break up the weed to really smell it. I have been burning a fire in my house, and maybe it lowered the humidity too much? Its a real bum deal when my Skywalker goes from a real stinker, to a real mellow smell!

just one thing i noticed, when i allowed my stems to snap and not bend, i found my bud was getting too dry for the curing process to follow..
so now, i really can't describe how i let my stems get before i cure, but it's definitely before i find them snapping, as i find that's a bit too dry, like i said earlier.. try something similar and see if it doesn't help out mustang..

I've been using a large c-vault, that will fit my temp/humidity gauge. I let dry about 5 days, then seal them and check humidity after 6-12 hours. If above 62%, I let them air dry another 12-24 hours. Repeat until they stay measured between 60-62% sealed. Burp as usual. 2-3 weeks, and they are golden.

Best thing ive found for a killer smell is hanging the whole plant and dry trimming vs wet trimming.

If you put a Boveda humiditipack in your jars, it keeps the proper level up or down.

Yes I agree,this year hung full branches then trimmed dry and cure,strongest smell ever for me with all strains I had run.

How many days does it take for them to reach that point? I mean to get dry enough to safely jar it?

Yes and I agree.You can always open the jar entirely a short bit or take them out for a day if you sense they are softening or dampening.

I don't bother with the stem snapping bit.

I trim all the buds wet, cut em right off the stems. Buds only left. I let them dry for about 5 days on screens. Then I take a few bigger buds and put them in a small jar. In a few hours I check the humidity if it is over 65% I pull them out of the jar and put them on the screens for another 24 hours. Repeat until the humidity is under 65%. When I hit that I jar them all up and burp those jars for a while.

I think that I have been over-drying them. I have been letting them hang for about 5 days. It seems to go a lot faster when I have a fire in the fireplace!
I finally have my soil dialed in, now it is time to learn my next lesson! One hell of a bumpy ride getting here.
