I was curious in your experience making concentrates if you or anyone for that matter knew if rosin has more or less THC then concentrates made from butane? I know rosin is a fairly newer process compared to butane extraction, and it seems like a no brainer to choose rosin over butane if the THC yields from both are relatively the same or at least about the same.

Ill post up some test results thc is relatively same terp contebt seems higher

Can you point me to a graph or chart showing the BHO results? I am not surprised because the BHO is usually placed in a vac oven with heat. If it was in the vac oven at 95-110F it may be much higher in terps.

It would be great if the chart showed the temps of the vac oven.

Terpenes worse enemy: heat.

i would save it till i had a decent amount to make hash. unless that 1 plant is a tree of course. you'll have ample time to read up and decide how u want to hash it out. i think u will be disapointed of the return from that little bit of trim.

I did this method with 160 micron bubble bag. But I would prefer full melt product for dabbing. Now I have a ton of dry ice has and really not sure the best method to consume it. Any advice?IMG_20160208_151759.jpg

I have been doing rosin tech with a flat iron hair straightener and pressing .2g nugs of flower. And even tried pressing the dry ice hash with the flat iron between parchment paper. Nothing really seems to be giving me worth while yield. And if it doesn't work, I don't do it twice. These are some I pressed and wasted. I ended up with barely 3 dabs worth of final product. Just smoke it and enjoy it. It has a relatively high amount of plant contaminate so even if you press it you won't get the cleanest rosin. I like it as a topping on a bowl of herb.

Not all strains put out good rosin so it could be an issue with your starting material. A couple things that really helped me improve yield with rosin are to steam and compress the buds before pressing. Steaming may not be required. If you are able to compress your buds in a pollen press or garlic press without creating leaf crumble, you can skip this step. If your buds are a little dry or just not putting out rosin, you should try steaming, just a couple seconds is all it takes. Pre-compressing your buds will allow more rosin to escape the puck because you are able to create equal pressure over the entire mass.

I just put a bit in a pipe and away ya go... youll be suprised how smooth/tasty it really is...

Gotta say though...from your pic it looks like you shook it way too much...too much leaf in there....

I was gonna mention steam.
You can tell what will yield based on scissor hash, if its real hard no. If its liquid almost like a solvent and cleans your scissors, ya.

The terps absorb moisture out the air and form an azeotrope and this will imcrease the fluidity and make it more goopy

Its true... but that weight is coming from leaf...lol

But still... its good stuff.

Next time go a little easier. I shook out 1266 grams of wet primo trim (sugar leaf and popcorn buds only) and i got 72 grams of good dry ice hash... and that was a bit more leafy than usual...

What i do is press it all into a brick....
