Switching Nutrients - Cheap Suggestions

Want something different than Fox Farm, getting tired of it...I want about the same price range though.

Can anyone make some suggestions to some nutes, you have tried or maybe want to try?

$40 for all my micro nutes and regular nutes for flowering. I don't need veg nutes.

Earth Juice - I kind of want to try this out, I never hear much about it.

I always hear good things about Advanced and Botinicare

I only have 4 plants, so I can stretch out the two 32oz ferts for the whole run.

For what it's worth, I've tried two or three different fertilizers, and I have not found anything I like as well as FF. It seems a lot more forgiving as I have had some issues with others, but never FF. if it's working for you, I wouldn't monkey with it.

Grow More Sea Grow. My schedule is here. I like it because it's a combination of sythentic and organic. Best of both worlds. Immediacy of synethetic, kindness to the soil microbiology of organics. And, the smoke is smooth/rich unlike synthetic nutrients. (I used GH Flora 3-part and the difference in taste/smoothness was very noticeable.). I didn't notice any yield reduction (which you sometimes hear about with organic growing.).

Cost is about $1 per plant, per grow. Another Sea Grow user recently posted to the nutrient forum. He's following a very similar schedule.

I grew the following using my soil and schedule:

That was grown under only 21w/sq ft of Cree LED "lightbulbs" from Home Depot. (More info.).

I was looking at that General Hydroponics MaxiBloom and KoolBloom after you suggested, from what I understand the MaxiBloom has Cal+Mag in it already, more than FF Tiger Bloom at least. Should the Maxi Bloom's Cal-Mag be enough to not buy any CalMag?

That is cheap, i did the math it the MaxiBloom comes to like .11 per gallon if I order it off eBay. Still cheaper than FoxFarm Nutes. For $16 I would get like 140 Gallons of nutes that's using 7 grams per gallon. Seems like a lot though. 7G of powdered nutes would be quite a bit.

7 grams is only a tsp. per gallon. It's what's recommended using the KISS Method and that is the full strength amount. I start out after the first week of growth at just 1/4 strength and increase as the plant grows. If you use tap water you should not need cal-mag.

I agree. And, if you don't use calmag the nutrient mix won't be as acidic. As a result, you don't need as much ph-up -- which is even less unnecessary salts (which are harmful to the soil biology).

I stopped phing my nutrients when I stopped using calmag. Things have been much better since then. (easier, fewer problems.).

I haven't tried Dyna Grow. So I can't speak for it.
I've grown some super healthy plants and fat buds using some of the cheapest stuff I've found.
Vigaro Liquid plant food. It's a 32oz bottle of 10-10-10 with nice Micro rates. Pushed plants through veg and flower with it. Bottle was like 6 or 7$. 1-2Tsp/gallon. That and a bottle of GH CalMag+ works wonderfully.
Also Jack's Classic bloom booster works perfectly fine @ 10-30-25+micros. It's extremely cheap @ just about any greenhouse.

KISS mate!

Flora Nova Bloom or Maxigrow.
There is a huge thread over at a certain forum you can google it.
No one needs all the bs everyone is buying.
Cannabis is much simpler than the Canna companies make it out to be.
Its 1 part nutes. Can add some boosters in flower like dry Koolbloom, but other than that your golden.

I like your sentiment. I'm growing a plant with $6 MiracleGro Tomato right now. It's gone fine so far. 188 gallon waterings for $6. :) That's about 30-cents per plant, per grow.

But, it's a little more complicated than picking anything. For example, just because I'm using tomato food doesn't mean the orchid food would be (it probably wouldn't). I would avoid time-release "shake" products, unless someone has demonstrated they work.

Start a compost pile. Cheaper than anything mentioned here and also much more effective. If you're growing in soil no plastic jugs are necessary.

Buying expensive ferts does not make a differance, same as buying cheap ferts.
As long as you are giving Cannabis the correct amounts and PPM of what it needs you are all good.
I do not condone the use of miricle grow.
Maxibloom is all you need and its super cheap.
Check out the thread over at IC Mag on the KISS Maxibloom.
I personaly have used it and love it.
Im currently running H&G Coco because its really great for coco but for soil and hydro I reccomend Maxibloom or flora nova bloom.
Has everything a plant needs is correct amounts.

Condone[1] is an odd word to use about someone's nutrient choice (when, as you said, all that matters is the NPK ratio).

You'll have to accept and allow that MiraclGro seems to work. I hope you're not offended. :)

Bontanicare has worked well for me.
General Hydroponics anything from them is a proven performer
Advanced Nutrients is good as i have, heard many swear by it
Hydroponics Research
All great lost cost nutes.
