I've vegged with a t12 for 6-7 months
And had great resultsimage.jpg

I for the life of me can not figure out why with mh and even the very short time using t5s I've had nothing but problems

I think everything I'm doing is the same except the light...

Temps are never higher than 85°
And usuallt around 77°
Nutes and all that is the same ph is cool around 6.5
image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpg image.jpgimage.jpg
I've been racking my brain....Very stressful!! I pulled a t12 light out of my garage got a veg bulb for 9$ and have grown some beautiful mothers clones and plants from seeds, everything ...
So I thought I had it down and spent a very hefty amount of money on a 1k mh\hps combo
So far I've grown nothing but plants with weak growth yellow leaves and other discolorations
And lower leaves usally crisp up...

What's goin on?!?!?!?!

Are they getting too much light ?!

Do I need to put gravel or rocks in the bottom of pot?!
It feels sometimes like the top half of soil dries up way faster than bottom half...
Is it too much ventilation the cause of that ^^^^
Is it not draining?

With more light do they need more or less nutes?!
Or should it all be the same?!

Are the roots getting too hot or cold?
Helllllp

Someone plz help!!!!!!!!

mykos does wonders for this plant, you say top dry bottom wet, they have the signs of overwatering,as far as your lights, back of the hand method, put your hand on top of canopy, leave for 30 seconds if it uncomfortable ,move light up,with the t5 i have had best luck at 3ft from canopy, under that ive always had problems, your 1k is hot, with the back of hand method i would almost bet you need to be a minimum of 2 ft,if you got under light with your head at the heigth of your canopy and just sit there,is it uncomfotable,if you are they are,dry um up get some mykos adjust your lights and i believe you will be a happy camper

On initial planting I added mykos
To everyone

The light is 3 and half feet away...
Not hot at all

Could the soil be too packed

Idk?????

I'm so frustrated

If u think the pot is not draining properly. Yes add more perlite or similar product in with Ur medium and also put a nice layer on the bottom of the pot. 78% coco and 22% perlite is a good enough ratio to start at.

Also if Ur watering with a pitcher it might be more evenly watered if you drill small holes in a water bottle cap and cut off the bottom.

help me eliminate the variables, whats changed since that last healthy plant, other than the light?
To me that soil looks like vermifire? or vermisoil? Not many mixes have volcanic rock in them.
Your mix looks fine, appears to have plenty of aeration.
And that's NOT a mychorizhae issue
Are you feeding too?
whats the water that you are using?

Looks like over watering.. and maybe pH issues
6.5 is kinda high, no? try 5.8 - 6.2
I keep mine around 5.9 - 6.1 since I got a decent pH meter.. haven't had many problems since.. 'cept nute burn.. :bigjoint:

I know you said your pH was cool at 6.5 but when was the last time you calibrated your meters? Also, looks like you have alot of K in the picture, are you using any Silicon? DynaGrow ProTekt maybe?

Wow, a broad range of answers on this one  i doubt its ph, but i always doubt ph because ive never had a ph issue in my years of growing. Its always grower error. I always laugh when i see leaves wrinkled and dying and someone says, ph did that. Nope. Silica i dont think would save that from happening whatevers going on there. Silica strengthens cell walls, its not a nutrient its like sand.

My take on it is that the plants look a little thirsty, but they could be over watered but im doubting that. Id guess with the yellowing that your not feeding enough and the MH light is growing the plants taller and faster than the t 12 so theyre consuming more food than on the last grow ;) theres probably more heat coming off the MH so theyre wanting water faster because the real light is making real growth.

Id say the solution is to up your game. Feed harder, water more often, get some calmag into those plants, and hold on tight. I bet theyll take off in the next week.

Thats what my plants looked like after i let my hubs water them for me...it was about 10 days ago, and now they have halfway recovered. My seedlings are still in droop mode everytime I give them just the smallest amounts of water. I'll pot up the seedlings and put them under my t5's (currently under t8). This will give them the nutes they need to recover and take off. My water is pure at 7.0 and they seem to like that. hope this helps.. imho If they arnt ready to pot up then give them half doses of some nutes, do not flush it will kill em

Ya man, reading it over again i think you were doing good feeding under the t12s and now that you have the 1k MH running the feed schedule isnt keeping up. Good luck.

T12's are low level lighting which plants can get by with less feeding. Now that you've switched to HID's, your plants are growing faster so you need to up the nutrients. I see the purpling of leaf stems and stripes on stalks which usually means (unless genetics or cold temp) Mag/P deficiency. Are you sure your pH meter is calibrated and working properly?

Good news and bad news

Bad news first, they aren't getting any better

Good news is, I had two giant plants I was able to clone the shit out of
(One animal cookie and one gsc)
So I'll be ready to start again

How should I adjust them to the 1k mh once they root?
