The efficiency vs current looks very linear. In real world scenarios(not pulsed) the case temp will be higher for higher current. So even more compression.
Which means we gain more and more efficiency as the drive current is reduced.
this also tells me that if I'm running ultra low currents, I can use cxb3070 instead of cxb3590 and not lose too much efficiency. considering cxb3590s are close to twice the cost of a cxb3070, that sounds like a good compromise.

thanks robin and supra for the great data

My take is that I can run more 3070s and run softer than the 3590 and get close efficiency with better spread for a similar or better price of purchase

Not really. If we're talking top bin for instance [CD for 3590 and BB for 3070 in the 3500K temp] the 3590 runs at .8v less than the 3070 @1400mA [also more photons for about 1 less watt but who's counting?]. For our purposes, you can still only fit 4 on a driver of either one and the decreased voltage isn't enough to impact the efficiency of the driver.

Is the the 3590 "CD" double the price of the 3070 "BB"? Donno....never seen the BB for sale but I'd wager they are about the same price.

Sooo...same spread, softer 3590s, but possibly higher price for them?

I don't own either, I'm an "cxA" student but it looks like a wash to me....

I run CXA also, but just got a pair of the CXB3070.
I run HLG-240H-42B so number of cobs per driver is variable dep on what current I want to push.
Maybe just Im just trying to justify being cheap/poor ad getting the lower lines

I just picked up cxb3070 BB for 36.00 plus 5.00 shipping. try running cxb3070 at 700ma and then you might see the light

@25w the 3590 is still 8.6ppfd/W vs the 3070's 8.3ppfd/W

How much is a cxb3590 CD?

Edit: fair enough, pretty negligible difference in light output but same spread etc

can you guys share your source? i see kingbrite.cn but all i see are secondary optics there
email Jerry @ [email protected]
or Mark @ Cutter Electronics, he recently got a batch of top bin 3070s and 3590s, ships from AUS for about $10 if I recall and offers discount code 'CUTANDROLL'
Pacific Light Concepts has 3070 BBs for $36 and ships from US for about $5
I got mine from Pacific Lighting. He i in the same state as me, and on the forums here, an I like to support friends, and small local business.
Others here have bought from him, and that was good enough for me.
I have bought from Kingbrite as well. Price was cheaper, but PP fees and higher shipping so you have to decide what best for you, but they all have the same product in the end.
