Question about air pots?

I dont see the expense in these. Anyone vouch they are worth it, compared to fabric pots? Also how do they hold dirt in the bottom of the airpot?The pictures I see, have a grate type bottom, that looks like you'd get allot of soil spillage from the bottom of the pot over time.

U can throw stones on the bottom and just fill with dirt

I use them and I can most def see a big difference. After the fist 2-3 waterings/feedings you won't get much dirt in your run off. My roots are much thicker and robust, no circling. I've never used fabric but compared to normal plastic pots I feel the airpots are far superior. Transplanting is effortless since the pot can be taken apart. The only drawbacks I feel are note worthy are when watering I would take it slow so not to have water pouring from the sides and I would also elevate the pots off the run off tray so your ladies aren't sitting in the run off. FACT: the bigger the rootball the bigger your yield!

so why grow in a pot that automatically restricts yield (via aero pruning)

for this reason I sold all my aero pots to the kid up the road,

hes very happy, and likes to play with them but he's only on his 5th grow,

and I returned to my old plastic pots ...very happy ...thank you ..because?

light getting at roots =bad

roots aero pruning =bad

water not getting into the central tap zone = bad

above all cause the pot is flexible it can and does distort the tap root

leading to stunted growth

check this out yourself come harvest and note how 'S' shaped the tap root is

Thanks for the valuable info. The thing that really got me was light on the roots is bad. I know how important it is wih hydro resevoirs, and roots in soil are no different. Air pota definitley have wide open holes for light to hit roots everywhere no doubt! So far black plastic pots, and black fabric bags have prevented this well.

Glad to see your results with airpots. Those plants look pretty healthy to me. There are always pros and cons, and it was nice to hear both. I think one air pot thrown into the mix couldnt hurt to see the results for myself.
