Hey guys, I know trichs are the best way to tell when a plant is done, although im broke as shit at the moment and cant afford a microscope/magnifying glass.. I know you can also tell by the pistils changing color.. and the top colas of my smaller girl are almost completely filled in with red hairs.. is it possible shes already done?
If I wait too long will I lose THC content?

Here's a cpl pics, I would love your opinions!

Another question - What would happen if I harvested just the top half of the plant (the portion that looks ready) and left the bottom half? would it continue to flower or would the plant just go into shock and turn hermie on me?

Maybe harvest top colas and allow smaller ones to age. Also I'm sure this will not help but there are a few ways to make a magnifying glass with household items.

I tried to send you the link but this site won't allow me to. Just Google how to make a magnifying glass. There are several ways

Yea ive read about regenerating, but I gotta finish these up and make room for my next batch which is pretty much ready to flower any day. Im gonna chop her in half shortly, after I google diy magnifying glasses haha.

Thanks guys!

44 days, just over 6 weeks.

The lower developments still have some white pistils, but the top half looks fully done, without getting up close to the trichs to be 100%. I have some old camera lenses that ive been trying to use haha but nothing gets me close enough
Unless it's a strain that calls for that time period I personally would leave it until 50-56 days at least. Some indica's do finish early, but 44 days imo is a little too early. Each strain is different though, really hard to tell without an examination of the trics.

nah it calls for 8-10 weeks (cropkingseeds) thats why im surprised she looks ready so early. My other one still shows like 50% white pistils but this one here, at least the top cola is pretty much all brown/red hairs now.. im gonna see what I can do about getting a look at them trichs first.. but I am anxious to just chop her now..

$4 loupe that works great. Get a couple of them. They ship from CA, so you could get them this week if you order now. I have a couple of these, they are great for the money.

I took a piece of the leaf from upper cola and from bottom development and threw it under this shitty magnifying glass then zoomed in on my phone as much as possible to get a close pic. This is the best I can do.

This is a leaf from the top cola

Let it go to 56 days bfore chop no matter what your temptation.... if its an 8 to 10 week flower as you say and that timeframe is breeder recommended, thats gonna be the sweet spot. Your cola leaves from what i see have no amber top trichs yet. Dont let the brown or red pistoles fool you, as the top of the trichome needs to turn amber too. Good ratio is about 30% amber triches and 70% cloudy. And mate your trichome coverage is just turning to cloudy...
