Cheers, I thought so, I did order a 400w kit, but got sent a 600w?!! I ain't got time to return it n I have a 400w bulb there. With the 600w I have put 2 extractor fans in and put duckting right at light to try dispersed heat + a 4" desk fan inside tent pointing up, but I feel it is still to hot for newly rooted cuttings, I had to take seedling out, where as under 400w they used to grow BIG leaves and be little bushes after 10 days. Would an old 600w bulb give off less heat and be strong enough light to use for a while?"over clocking" can sure make the lower wattage bulbs shine [for awhile]
but on the whole its not great on the bulb
and they have surely been known to blow..so i would say be careful....
there is danger there!
On the good side, you got more than what you paid for. How hard could it be to find someone who wants to trade their 400w ballast for a 600? Sounds pretty risky overdriving a bulb though. It being extremely hot is not a good sign. Yeah, use the old 600 bulb.Cheers, I thought so, I did order a 400w kit, but got sent a 600w?!! I ain't got time to return it n I have a 400w bulb there. absolutely NOT, even with hps...............mag ballasts will fire whatever you put in them generally due to simple circuitry, doesn''t mean it's safe to do so==== ALWAYS use the appropriate bulb/ballast(ansi) combo for highest efficiency/safety.Can a 400w Omega hps bulb be used in a 600w ballast for a week or so in my tent??
