Day 1 of male showing sex

One of my OG Kush x Blue Dream went up in smoke! Yesterday no plants had evidence of sex either way. Today, one of my plants shows up with BALLS! This shows the importance of visually and physically checking your plants every day for anomalies.

I just took some clones of this plant too, so I will have to trash those as well.

Here is what can emerge just within an overnight dark room plus 6 hours.







My cat is now eating this plant.

Also, you'll notice the purple stripes near the terminal growth points, and purple petioles (transition between stem and leaf blade). This is Magnesium deficiency. The reason this plant probably exploded with new growth is because I recently transplanted it into a different soilless mix/coco coir which requires the pH to be higher as in soil growing rather than hydroponic drain-to-waste. The Ca Mg and Fe along with a little P were locked out because of this condition at the root medium. I foliar spray every day which masked the problem though the stalks showed Mg deficiency. After the situation only got marginally better after 2 days I knew I needed to switch the pH.

I gave a new nutrient solution pH buffered higher and have been watering with pH buffered water as well. I still need an RO unit to remove chloramines and then there should be no more deficiencies.

Figured if I am going to post this plant I would show it's problems, explain why it had those problems, and give an example as to how I troubleshoot and apply corrective measure.

Tip: Don't change your soil mix throughout your crop. If you want to change mediums, do so at the beginning of the next crop. =)

Anyway sucks that this happened bro, its almost like a family member dying its never a great thing but there's always a reason behind it.

Haha! Well, I wanted to switch my medium so I knew to watch for any problems and really this whole issue has only been going on maybe a week. Im always watching closely so if one change for troubleshooting doesn't work after 2-3 days its obviously not that issue. I just wasn't counting on the mixture I made using all soilless ingredients (Hydroponic Drain-to-Waste) to act like a soil. The plant cost maybe $12 for the Smart Pot, Soil mix, Nutes and water used its entire life and I have grown so many plants they are more like distant red headed troublemaking hillbilly cousins at times. Right now I have an electric yellow plant that will not green up no matter what i do to it but it seems to be growing fine. I want to cull it but I wonder what it will do so I let it live. =P
