I use a 400w MH for veg.
I have a 600w hps that I want to use for flower.
the laidy's seem to grow slow at 78deg.
open hood.
should I use the hps for flower?

You have far too many plants inside your tent, you will struggle to yield any mass if you are not using a SeaOfGreen method as your plants will be WAY too cramped in such a tight space.
I have the same size tent in it currently with 4 plants, you NEED a second tent.
How far away is your plant canopy from the light?

Also 400Watts on 9 plants you will only get slow growth, if you want them to grow faster upgrade to 600W and add a second light.

they are in pots that are 12 inch tall and they are only about 12 to 15 inches tall. l am not planning to flower for a wile but I do have 3 clones that could go to flower. I could get 3 feet of groth or more hypotheticly
the rest are seedlings and don't know if they are male yet so I suspect some will be male
this is my first grow indoors and I have never used nutes until last week I used nector of the gods advanced .next day the 3 bbg clones were all white and loosing leaves daily but have seen new growth. was thinking that maybe I fked that up and the heat burnd them

IMG_0234.JPG IMG_0240.JPG so how far from the light are your plants?
They should be able 5 inches from the tops of your plants for optimal growth, but from 5-7 inches you will find a sweet spot that they will like best.
Yes that would be fine if a marijuana plant could grow 3 feet without getting bushier, I have 4 plants in flower ATM in a tent the same size as yours I will attach a photo so you can see how crowded it will be with 9 lol.

1. Put up some pics
2. Tell us about your ventilation and temperature management setup
3. What's your substrate?

If I were playing in this tent with nine girls, I'd flip them the moment they touch one another, after topping them.

I'd also run BOTH of the lamps you mentioned, and make sure the tent is sufficiently ventilated to keep temperature in the upper 70s. Easiest way is to put an exhaust fan in the top of the tent and allow for plenty of cool air to enter at the bottom. I'd run a fan to just ruffle the canopy, not beat it up.

Finally, I'd have mixed my nutrients and amendments into the soil before planting so I wouldn't need to fertilize until I'm well into bloom.

I know some of this advice comes a bit late and some may even seem outrageous- I'm just tossing my two cents in as food for thought.

umm look my grow closet is not a tent I have 40 inches from the top of pots my light is all the way up at 7 feet from floor it is a open hood like a wing but octagon shape.
I have the pots on a removable shelf that sits above a 22inch box fan I get great venting I have 2 6 inch fans blowing on the plants I have a 22inch box fan pulling air out of closet as well my thermometer reads 78 to 82 average when light is on it can get cold in there at night mid 60's so main fans are on the timer with light....
I am beginning to think that this is not a light prob but a nute issue.. sorry guys let me start from the beginning. my pops got sick. he had some seeds. so got his card and we decided to try it out. I got dirt from a friend cuz I be poor right. so every thing was all good up to 2 weeks ago I feed them with the nector of the gods 1 time I got that crap on the leaves and it literaly bleached them whight now thay dieing I think ill post a pic...... also I think that the soil must have been mg because it holds water for ever I only give them 1 solo cup of water a week. should I flush them out completely? I wont use the notg nutes agin.
dont make to much fun of my girls ok the tall one was a blue widow now she is in the cloner box
the firs pic was 2 weeks ago when I got that poor raped mother widow and the nutes. I did not use them on her that's the 2nd pic in the box. the third is just now I only have 8 girls...
and out of 23 clones I have 1 left that probably wont make it the guy I got her from ended up with 3 out of 16 clones from her.. and she was infested with mites realllllllly bad I use a dawn spray for bugs

your light needs to be about 5 inches from the plant, you are currently receiving about 2000 lumens from your light globe if even that much.
Which if you think about it, you would get the same growth sitting a 12W CFL globe above your plants.
If your growing in soil you only need nutrients that are tailored to a soil grow, if you get nutrients tailored to a peat/coco/hydro grow then you will drown the soil in nutrients that it does not need.
your plants will thank-you for it believe me, also they don't look that bad but there is definitely evidence of nutrient burn all over your plants.
You cannot feed any nutrient solution onto the leaves of a MJ plant or it will dye it like that.
they can bounce back you just need to control these issues first.

they are around 4 weeks into flower, so maybe half way through.
I vegged with a HPS bulb so I didn't cop any stretch when I flipped to 12/12, which actually helped things to not get too crowded.
Though I definitely would advise vegging with a MH it was my frist grow and the hydro shop guy said HPS would be ok for those purposes...

5 inches would burn them I have heard that 12 inches from the light would be to close,, to hot. I dont have room in here for 2 lights think I will upgrade to biger room and also those poor little girls wer born on sept. 19th

My lights are HPS and I run them at around 10 inches from the canopy of my plants.
you NEED an oscillating fan to blow the tops of canopy when lights are closer if you don't have an extractor fan because you will have hot-spots under the globes which would explain why it would burn the plant if you've tried it before without proper heat extraction.
