Cold air on the intake questions

When I setup my intake I was going to pull in from the outside of the grow room and vent it outside. I was wondering if taking fresh air from outside the house would be better. We have all 4 seasons and in the winter time it can be pretty darn cold so I would assume pulling in that cold air would probably not be a good thing for the plants or is my assumption incorrect? Even with an intake hose of say 7 or 8 feet layed on the inside of the house, pulling cold air from the outside probably wouldn't be enough to warm up the air before it got to the grow room would it?

Same question goes for the lamp... would the out side cold air be to much for the lamp or possibly cause condensation with moist air being pulled accross the hot lamp.

TIA

i don't have any experience with it getting too cold, but what kind of light/setup do you have? the lights would definitely heat up the air some, depends on the room and lights yer using as to how much,

Still in the "what's best stage" but I was looking at 1000 watt HPS though getting two 600 watt HPS lamps might be an option. Plan on using mylar on the walls.

Just don't know if there is a real benefit bringing in fresh air from outside the house or just sucking in what's in the basement. There would be a filter or some sort of screen to prevent bugs and other stuff from getting sucked in the vent.

well you won't have to worry about an air cooled hood on the HPS. haha i just got a 400w one for my closet but i'm in SoCal and it gets real hot

i bet the air from outside would be better but it might be more hassle than its worth, i'm sure you could use air from in the house just as well

I run a 1000 watter and it gets hot in the room. I had winter air cooling my bulb with no problems. I even had frost on the ducting.

With fresh air you bring in what you get plus co2. If you bring what is in the basement you are bringing in stale air which defeats the purpose of intake in the first place. For plants to thrive you need an active exchange of the stale air in your grow area and an intake of somesort to provide your grow area with fresh air.
With a two light set up you have more light distribution. Heck if I had the money I would change my 2 600's for 3 400's. Mylar does serve its purpose but a bitch to clean and if you do not place it perfectly the imperfections are like magnifying glasses to your plants. I use visqueen plastic or panda film.

Wow! Was that just for the bulb or both intake and the bulb? If it was for the intake I'm assuming you didn't have any problems with the plants then either?
