giving defoliation during flower a try

I think you took time to read a book then answer.
On the net I could be van dam, or even the real Dexter lol .

If your the guy you say you are (wich I don't think imo) you wouldn't take all that time to rebate or what ever.
And you would understand the points that were given by both jacks and the other guy, and would have explained it in properly with good understanding.
And I don't really think you would be sat on your sad ass with a few books open to answer....
You would be out there with the real growers sharing a spliff and talking real shit instead of jumping on every single defoliation thread.
But that's just mho:bigjoint:
But hey I'm a freshman noobish shit grower so I don't think my opinion counts
You should honestly just shut your mouth and show a little respect to a real gardener. UB is a wealth of knowledge and if you make an attempt to unlearn all the garbage that you've picked up on canna forums and take his simple, pragmatic advice that's based on years and years of real horticulture, you'll be a MUCH better gardener in the long run.

Or you can continue to treat cannabis as a 'special' plant with all your hocus pocus techniques and shoot yourself in the foot crop after crop. I don't think anyone really cares either way.

Hi HB, a happy T-Day to you bro. After a new member had lurked for a while, read some of my posts, he became concerned that the foods that he was using was causing problems while flowering and had a leafing question. Not that many will care but this is my reply to his concerns.

Glad to help. Considering I introduced Dyna-Gro, Peters Blossom Food and Citrus Food to pot growers years ago I know a bit about them. Yes, leaves are your primary concern and I'll repeat myself for the 100'th time - "don't worry about the buds, concentrate on the most root and foliage mass going into 12/12 as you can." I have grown awesome plants with great yields from start to finish with a high N food like a slow release 18-4-9. If you can find them, I've started threads on this issue.

Been bookmarking a few threads, will see if I can fetch some that might help. BTW, lots of bullshit in this place. Empower yourself by understanding botany and what makes a plant tick. The gimmicks and new trends can come later if you wish.

This will keep you busy on T-day!

Yes they do and one thing that's a given in pot forums, unlike other gardening forums I participate in, they will make growing this weed as complicating and confusing as they can.

I have about 6 defol threads bookmarked. Folks need to do a search AFTER reading a book on plant culture and processes.

UB
I hear ya, I've tried probably just about every thing there is to try through the years. Little experiments here and there. I've noticed that letting them do their thing and grow with little intervention is the most easiest and fastest / productive thing to do. I still super crop and top heavily though. That's about all people need to do to to have a successful grow.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone

UB is a seasoned grower, his knollage and experience maybe very usefull to an outdoor seasoned grower
my advice is for indoor grower doing a small perpetual crops inside under light

any indoor grower knows its not pratcule to grow a 5ft plant in a tent under hps ( it don't work ) simple bad advice, no other words for it.
what esle is there to say

I have run a perpetual for over 5 years, most of my plants are 5-6ft tall, so i have been doing it wrong according to you, that makes me really LMFAO.

OK, I'm gonna rebut just this one.

Wrong, unless you're not running fans and if you're not, you need to get on the ball. The roots are not receiving squat one way or the other either. They have their own mechanism for respiration, for air exchange.

Having said that, in the early days of the Canna corp. they were hawking CO2 tabs for "root health" to be placed into the soil. Such stupid shit in this biz......
And I'm under no obligation. Look....seasoned growers like me, HB, Riddle and others have pretty much given up on you guys, it just gets old repeating ourselves every time some new crop of newbies comes along and starts another dumbass defoliation thread or talks shit.

I gave you links, advised you to get educated and you refused to even have a look much less acting like a cocky little know-it-all. This is exactly what I mean. Pearls before swine....

Having said that, your 7 "reasons" were not worthy of comment.

Recommend revising or removing your sig-line as it's not relevant.
did you read the post

CO2 is heavier than air and settles in grow rooms close to the floor. This means the roots are receiving much more CO2 than the leaves and flowers, when it should be the other way around.

meaning the canopy needs the co2

not all flower rooms have the space for a powerfull fan to circulate the air
just pacific air intake and a small extractor fan/ filter can give you great results in a small flower room

ok tell me about your setup, how high above the plants are your lights ?
standard 8 ft ceilings, using 3 1000wDE lights as high as i could get them. I take a plant out, one goes in to replace it. I can't do a sog/scrog as I run several different strains in a perpetual. room is sealed with supplemental c02 and environment is controlled with a 24,000 btu ductless.
canopy is 80-85 lights on and 69 lights off. I average a qp per plant.

Every garden supplementing co2 has fans for circulating. Its part of the "make sure your rooms dialed in if your considering co2 enrichment". Your argument on this subject is wrong. I mean that in no disrespect, I think your one hell of a gardener and your plants are beautiful.

this is what i am talking about, you have a professional grow op, most basic growers buy a 6ft tent and look for some advice on how to pull a good yeild, do you see what i mean ?

You're using DE with 8' ceilings? I've been debating it because mine are 8'. So you just mount them all the way up and leave them there? How long do you veg? I think you can get those 4zip plants to 6zips pretty easy, have you tried topping a little more? Just saying this because I avg 4-5zips a plant with no co2 and old bulbs in my old school hoods, you could totally get that yield up

your right, if you have the money and time you can set a room up, so its dialed in to get the best results
but if you havent you can do a basic setup and pull a good yeild, you can still pull oz's even if your room not dialed in

considering most are og's and those only ever got me 2.5 ounces when using SE bulbs and I live in a middle condo, so exhausting is not possible and I LST and top. No I have not considered topping more.
I don't keep track of veg really. I use a 400 watt ceramic for veg. when i finish flowering a plant, the biggest one in my veg room takes it's place in the flower room.

Right on, ogs are tough, try topping more, I still pull about 4 with se and ogs, but I start topping early, like a week after they root, then 7-10 days later take all the tops again, then again 7-10 days later. Then let them recover and around day 28-31, they should have a good 12-15 tops and you'll do much better I think. Also, always super crop ogs during the stretch, they love it!

I never read a book I got a tent and some seeds and off I went.

I think that's what you would call a real gardener I dialed in with everything before joining RIU, and came to look for advice on how to do it better and found the man.

From just growing I managed to find a plant to that loves the environment changes, what doses of nutes to get things good with a broken ph pen and no ppm reader just good old look at your plat and listen to what she wants.

Just needed training on my bad habits ie extreme defoliation and how to make my perpetual better.

All that on mg Soil and cheep vegtable nutes grow sure all rounder.

I am a practical grower I can't sit there and read shit that's not gonna work in my case I live in England where it could be summer in the morning and winter by afternoon so my environment is gonna be little bit hard to control.

My tent is 80cm square and 160cm tall I'm using a 600hps

I been growing mj since last Christmas advice from a real indoor gardener made my wishes come true.

By growing small but yielding big:bigjoint:
Forgot to add my grows are personal so I don't need to impress no one, just the wife :weed:

each plant needs its own training or not, I grow clone only strains and manage them all differently (for seed plants UB topping for 4 is the quickest way to improve yields, mainlining seriously wastes time but look great so for the hobbyist imo) so with eg uk exodus clone only its about getting a good top and clearing the lower third 3 weeks post flip, others do it dif with equally good results but more popcorn so good if u like hash but not so great for the trimmer, im a lazy cunt tbh

If any of you are truly interested in this stupid shit subject of defoliation as it relates to cannabis, even as beaten to death the subject is, people like Homebrewer and Uncle Ben still drop into it for the hundredth time just to try to explain to people that defoliation does more harm than good. These guys are some of the best this forum has to offer when it comes to experience and advice in general. They've been at this a very long time and they could be a wealth of information and ya'all especially those of you who are noobs to both growing or using this particular website should be thankful that these guys chime in, and you should show a little respect for the ones that have earned the respect of others.
