Matching Drivers and COBs

Well, actually higher Vf causes higher current to flow through but yes:)

35.6V is expected value for your setup. Nothing's wrong.
looking again at that chart I see that means I am most likely in the lower temperature point as well.

Yeah looks good. But there are some variations and the VfxIf chart is average only.
It's good for reference but I wouldn't rely on it much.
Since my cobs are in parallel, my Vf is the highest cob reading I would think.

The reason I bring this up at all is driver matching is much easier when running the at lower IF.

For example hlg-320h-36a with the CXA3070 can run without clamping 5 cobs, but 4 or more might become an issue.
I thought this driver wouldnt work at all with the CXA3070 previously.

All COBs have the same voltage when run in parallel, the current will vary slightly from one to another though.

You mean 4 or less, right?

It seems the higher current they draw the higher VF, so running more cobs would yield lower VF wouldnt it, and keep driver from clamping?

With 4 veros or cxa's in parallel use the hlg240-42 and they'll run ~1.3a. For cxb's the hlg240-36 works great and get you 1.650.

With 4 cxa's on an hlg185h-c1400 it drops the current down in the 900ma and was hard capped at 143.2v for mine. Same or similar will happen with the vero. I'm nbelive supra has tried to get over 143v and couldn't either.

Hey man. Through a mishap I have a hlg185c 42b. I was thinking what to build with it. What are your thoughts? I was thinking 3-vero 29 in parallel maybe? You have played around with quite a few drivers though and wondered if you ever looked at this one. :-)

Hey,
Yep, 3 vero's or cxa's would run at ~1.46a on that.
Or could do 4 at 1.1a.
Or 2 at 2.2a...I'd go 3590 if thinking this setup.

could somebody tell me why some one would run @ 36 or 72 v..iunderstand it has to do with amps used?

say i wanted to have 450-600 w actual usage with 100 w cobs driven @ 50 %[attempts to regurgitate some of what has been said
on this awesome forum]

i sure want to get pre wired holders too.

from not wanting to make my own a few hours ago i have gone to better make my own

thankyou

[yes i know not much..but that has never stopped me before]

Same driver I have.
If you decided to sell it to get the 36V version let me know, I might be interested in a 2nd one

I actually have the 240H it turns out

The 36V vs 72 V is based on driver selection and how many cobs per driver I think.

And yea this forum made me build a light instead of buying another one.
I am actually selling my factory ones to fund this project.

Im gonna make a go of it with this one. :-) why not. LOL It might even be a 48B I cant remember off hand. I am thinking it is 48b because I remember 3.9 amp as the max vs 4.4 on the 42b. I am sure it will still drive at least three pieces.

Good luck on the build. It is fun to make your own lights. The cobs work great too so its an extra bonus. ;-) lol

thanks i actually understand that

i would ask about your biggest Bass too

but it would probably be a Precision..

[ain't the English language a hoot]

i have a message sent to the kingbite people....
I actually mean Bass as in subwoofer Bass not the fish lol.
I used to be a car audio/HT nstaller

Build going well, now just need to pick up the fan and mount driver and fan and drill holes for the hanger.

Bonjour
Do you mean you plan to diy a pannel with cob@100w and who have 50% efficiency!??
Cause I think ot is not possible!
It is watt or efficiency!
But with cxb 3590 3500ºk 36V CD @1400mA you get 56% (50/55w)
4 x 36v will go on an hlg-185-1400b and 8x on an hlg-185-700b
72V 4x on an hlg-185-700b and 8 on hlg-185-350b (all 200w panels/4x=350 $.56%/8x450 $ 60% or more I can't remember but with 8 it is very efficient and effective! )
Have a great day ★

i mean exactly what you typed..end result 50/55 w actual per 100w cob.
merci bonjour

Got a simple question hoping to be answered about hlg320h-36 meanwell driver. You wire them in parralel on this driver, correct? And then to dim i use the little screw adjustments, which one? Lo ADj. Or vo ADJ. I am guess the first one (lo ADJ.) But thought i would check beforw i put this next light together.

Yes Parallel wiring.
Dimming depends on the letter after 36.
A&C models have internal pot under rubber stopper. Current is adjusted via (Io)labeled adjusting pot
The B model requires an external 100K ohm 1/2W pot
