Bipolar?

Hello everyone,

I was diagnosed Bipolar One a few years ago, and I was wondering what strains you all recommend to combat and stabilize the manic and depressive episodes. I find that the regular weed that I get gives me relief from my obsessive tendencies and a sense of calm. Do you have similar experiences? Thanks guys!

Keep trying different strains and see what works for you.

what kinds of herb have you experimented with so far?

what is bipolar one, what does the 1 stand for?

I'm always looking....usually Indica good old GDP or OG. I have had good luck with AK47 and Blue Dream when I need to be active. I always try a new sativa at home. It can really fuck with my brain.....I know it's the weed and I know I will not die from it and that it will pass. When "that" feeling passes I enjoy the rest of the high.

Thank you so much for the responses everyone! Bipolar one is all about managing the extreme highs (manic) and the low lows. I can be super creative and talkative for a few days and really depressed and unmotivated for a few days. It is a constant cycle not only in my actions but also in my head. It's basically like a war in my head. My husband and i are growing some Blueberry right now to see if that will be a good one. We also have some Jack Herrer seeds that we want to try too. sometimes it's confusing to look at different sites because the "same" strain will have different characteristics on different sites. Is there like a weed bible out there lol. I would totally be in that religion haha.

I'm on zoloft, xanax, buspar, wellbutrin....................................oxy , Meloxicam, Plaquenil and if my Doctors had their way Morphine.....than Fentanyl patch. I refused, choose pot and was tossed from the office for choosing - street drugs - instead of the morph and fent. I was on 60mg oxy a day (not enough). When I have access to pot I can cut oxy down to 30 mg a day and no Meloxicam. I need 1 to 2 mil less of xanax too. Fucking bastards/bitches don't want to give up all those luxuries given to them from big pharma.....white, black, red, yellow, purple lives don't matter. Money matters.

Are you on psychotropics?
Yes, I am on a number of them. I believe in natural medicine and my goal is to exchange these manufactured pills for a natural alternative. I feel like these pills are helpful but I don't like all of the side effects, the fact that they are not from nature, and that they are highly addictive. I want to cleanse my body of them if I can. I live in a very conservative area that still has a very high stigma towards not only mental health conditions much less alternative natural medicine. I feel so relieved I have you all to talk to.

I have heard good things about AK and blue dream. I need an uplifting, creative medicine for those days where it is really hard to get out of the depressive episodes

I struggle with the same thing. Sativas help on the down days and hybrids for the up days. I only use indicas to help with sleep. Edibles definitely help more than smoking or dabbing.

On the down days the key is to do something active right when you wake up. I'll get up, check the veggie and berry gardens, walk through the greenhouse, feed the chickens and goat, while the edible is starting to kick in. The worst thing to do is get up an instantly medicate, leaves me in a slump all day.

Oh neat! I did not know that about edibles. I'm looking forward to making edibles after our first harvest. I guess the edibles make more sense now that I think about it!

in addition to marijuana you need ot learn to cope with being bipolar and learn some coping mechanism for day to day life
before you wean yourself off your medications you need to speak with your doctor and let them know how to lower the dose, or else you could suffer from severe side effects without doing it properly
dont just cut them out entirely

Yes!! Talk to your DR. I hate them all. I had planned to ween off at home. Than I found out the ugly truth. The zoloft would require hospitalization given my dosage and number of years on it. Without it I would most likely die either from the physical withdrawal itself or suicide. WTF the oxy and xanax yea.....but zoloft? They are poison. But....the big but I could not leave my house when this started 15 years ago. I come and go now. Please discuss all aspects with your DR.
Coping mechanisms are a must. For instance.....I could not drive through a tunnel without a panic attack it was a nightmare I cant see clearly when I have one. So after a couple years of that I routed around all of them...set my GPS and said I don't care if I go an extra 20/30 miles. The stress released from that simple decision I made was amazing.
PS
I drive right through those suckers now.....Hahahahaha

I (and others) have found that one of the greatest mood stabilizers is exercise. Regular exercise will really help with controlling the highs and lows. Herb can help a little, but if your mood swings are really wide you need medication. Depakote worked wonders for me. I hated Latuda. And I won't touch lithium.

Good luck!

I agree completely. Excercise saves me. Sleep for me is the most important thing and I have to track it daily. My mood varies so much by the amount of sleep I get.
