Mylar alternatives?

Hey everyone,

I am wondering what are some alternatives to mylar if by some weird odds it is incredibly expensive or not available here. Can I use the cheap kind of craft stuff from the dollar store? Can I use (ghetto) something like reflective wrapping paper?

Also does the mylar stay on the grow the whole time (through veg and flowering?)

you can get mylar pretty cheap at a hydroponics store, and yes, keep it up all the time. an alternative is to simply paint the walls white

Go to Walmart and buy the Emergency Blankets in the Camping Section...

flat white paint is VERY reflective and a GREAT alternative to mylar. you can also get panda film (which is what i use). its black on one side (to absorb light) and white on the other. use the white side.

A great alternative to Mylar -- An Emergency Blanket.

It's odd because the alternative to Mylar, is ... Mylar. An emergency blanket is made of mylar. These can be found for fractions of the cost of Mylar. The blankets are a certain size so you need to buy a certain number to cover your space, but in most cases it's way cheaper.
