Making cannabis infused oil for cooking

Sure, use coconut oil instead of butter. I have a slow cooker and slightly bubble the oil/water/cannabis for about eight hours. Use plenty of water and chill the mixture after simmering and straining--infused fat will be on top. Search cannabutter for a step-by-step.

I've used coconut oil it has more fat than butter. You are looking for an oil with a lot of fat content, fat= lipids= stuff the THC binds to. More lipids = more THC in the mix. Most cannabutter recipes have you strain out the THC containing matter after you deoxycarbolate, I leave all of it in, just in case.

So. You take your bud, crush grind whatever you need it in small pieces. If you have grade a primo try a quarter per cup of oil (butter, margarine (which isn't as good) coconut oil, etc) and that's basically it. I simmer on extremely low heat (0.5 instead of 1) for at least half an hour. Your butter/oil will turn almost black which is a good thing. You also want to make sure to keep constant stir on it, if the weed sits on one place too long it will burn instead of cook, which results in burned flavor to the food. If you use less than grade a stuff try up to a full oz. Its kind of a guessing game on how much to actually use, its dependent on 1. The amount of THC that is present in the weed, 2. The amount of lipids (fat) available to be bonded to.
One final note, you must deoxycarbolate the weed first. That's the only way to make it psychoactive (get you high) this is a simple process which is just adding heat. By deoxycarbolation you remove an OH molecule which turns inactive THCa into THC. You to this automatically by smoking the weed, and by cooking you do this same process. Now note from my mistake that even simply cooking requires the extra deoxycarbolation step, which you are doing by cooking the weed in your oil.

What I mean by this is simply that if you get a recipe, say for cookies, you throw the weed in the butter, mix and prepare, you will not get high. You have to heat the weed and oil by themselves for around half hour at least. If not your effort is basically wasted

Whats the steps you use? temp? how long? how much weed?

Its really impossible to fuck it up... I've forgot the crock pot was on for a day before...

I go to Walmart n buy a gallon or two of olive oil.

Fill the crock pot up with trim and small buds.. Pour the oil on...push down by hand and add more trim_-bud. I add a few cups of water to ensure total saturation of material.

I keep it on low for a few hours n let it cool... Then I repeat.. Few hours on low and cool. Then I strain it and toss in freezer... The oil will separate from water and I just scoop out a few cups as I need it stores well long term in the freezer.

What is the purpose of the water? I've done this a bunch with stick butter, coco oil stuff like that but never used water, just wondering if your results are different than mine (those of you that use water)

I've always used water .... Just seems harder to burn ur cannabutter and while it cools down the butter settles at the top with water sitting on the bottom of the bowl.... Just make a hole close to the edge and drain the water......

wow...
too much...

coconut oil is best for a reason- bioavailability of the mct and better logp.

water is used to absorb nasty compounds that arent fat soluble to help taste.

thc is sensitive and yu can definitely mess it up. unless your just looking for a body high

yes you can remove the carboxyl -cooh group while its in the fat. doing before hand is best as thca is much more water soluble, thats why it wontvcross the bb barrier. its psa, polar surface are is about 66 then drops to about 30

ah fuck it...no one ever cares.

yiull still get high no matter how you do it. butvif you want quality. think back to chemistry class

If you'd like to pm me about it I would really like more info on what you are talking about so that I can get more efficient at baking lol thanks
