All depends.

Some styles of grows may say to take a handfull of clones and toss the mother into flowering. If the mother is a daddy, well, nothing really lost.

Some say to keep the mother as a mother and flower all clones. (clones from clones from clones is said to degrade the genetics, others say poo-poo to that, DNA is DNA. You take your pick)

Sex can be determined before/without flowering. Preflowers will appear when the plant is *ready* to flower. Flowering can be done before this, but the pre flowers seems to be nature's way of saying the plant is ready for breeding.

Areogarden does a fine job as a cloner. Use rockwool over the foam plugs.

do people clone before they determine the sex of the plant? or after? or does it not matter?
I'm pretty sure after, I just bought a aerogarden, haven't got it yet, but I think you can only use them for seeds, or probably should anyways, but I heard it can make good clones which I am looking forward to most :)

For me a new grower should start from scratch..learn how to grow a plant 1st..then try some new techniques......... If you don't know whats what how will you judge success.... just a thought.. Luck.

thanks for the replies, im thinking im gonna start from scratch, i just dont know what to do with this plant thats been growing in my window for like months and months but no buds or pollen sacs

has anyone bought the upgrade for the aerogarden, its like 100 and you get more lights and a extension so that plants can grow way way taller

also, i ended up cloning that plant in the window into the aerogarden, the thing looks pretty unhappy, its all leaning over and shit, added a humidity dome, it helped i think, prob gonna die though

why do my roots kept getting tangled up in this thing and not going through the bottom

If you are talking about the little holder where those foam pieces were in then it could be because Marijuana uses alot of roots and the AeroGarden is not made for that.

Flower a clone to find the sex, then you will know what to do with the rest. I made up the corny rhyme but I found that out from a grow DVD I downloaded about a year ago.

If you're trying to grow more than two or three adult plants in an A/G the roots can be an impossibility to control but have you considered pruning them? I've done this frequently without a problem and it sure makes life easier. I prune no more than 1/3 of the root structure but with some strains I've had to do it as often as twice before harvesting. I use Technafloras "recipe for success" nutrients and it always includes a dose of B-1 so that may explain why it worked so well.

You can clone with an A/G but I prefer a cloning tray with compartments and rock wool cubes from your local hydroponics store. You can use day light in some places like Alaska or rig a CFL and give them about eighteen to twenty hours of light a day and they'll sprout roots. Don't forget the foliar feeding though.

There are ways to clone with an A/G but it can be a lot less convenient than a cloning tray. A friend taught me to remove the planting deck of the reservoir and empty it. Put your clones in rock wool cubes with about 1/8 of an inch of water/ seedling/cutting nutrient mix. Put the cubes in a deep clear plastic to go food box that fits in the empty reservoir. Put a few small holes in the top to control the humidity. If you remember to spray them about three times a day, when you eat, most will sprout roots. You can use the lights on your A/G this way without having to rig something extra. Good luck

It can depend a lot on the kind of glass you have in the window and the amount of light. If you have the newer double pane thermal glass windows that are so popular now a days you can barely grow house plants with those. Also if it's getting too much light you won't get it to flower either. I've seen a lot of folks recommend an even split of twelve hours of light and twelve of darkness. Your plant has to be fooled into thinking winter's coming to force blooming.

Well it may be a male plant which will not produce any buds :(
For what it's worth I had very little luck blooming plants using natural light that's gone through a window. You usually have to hide it so the neighbors or cops don't see it and that's caused you to lose a lot of the suns energy. You may also have too many hours of light. Try putting it on your empty reservoir base under the A/G lights on an independent timer and a figure eight cord.
