They been in a mason jar with them little packs to keep moisture away for about 2 years now. Are they still good?
Certainly. I believe that moisture is the primary culprit but considering what prompts the degradation of most complex molecules, water just accelerates the process. Dry and hot is better than wet and hot. Dry in sunlight is better than wet in the sun. Dry and exposed to oxugen is better than....psilocybin mushrooms WILL degrade their potency over time.
especially if exposed to sunlight, oxygen, or heat.
little silica packets may help extend shelf life but expect them to be life savers.
why not just eat half a gram and see how You feel?
nailed it!!!Certainly. I believe that moisture is the primary culprit but considering what prompts the degradation of most complex molecules, water just accelerates the process. But the point we are all trying to make is that we should limit exposure to the last great drstroyer, time.
(Talking over your shoulder here, you know what you are talking about)
Keep your shrooms in an air tight, light tight jar with silica just in case, in your freezer and you can be pretty certain of enjoying your stash pretty much the rest of your life.
Or go extra olskool and store em in honey. No air or germs can ever reach em.
I was thinking that same thing myself. I know that people would also store and/or freeze chopped shrooms in lemon juice. Do you know of any "safer" way to store or keep shrooms in an edible substance?Careful.
Honey can cause anaerobic conditions. Mushrooms are within the pH range for botulism. Add both together and you could have a problem.
Its all for science. Don't stress it brother.Aha. Color me edified.
Nah dude I crave edification. Its all for science. Don't stress it brother.
