rollitupers,

I'm new here and just recently posted about a 4x4 grow i'm interested in starting. I proposed a couple of set ups that I was interested in starting with..

1. 500 Watt vero29.. price $999
states it's designed for 48"x44' area.. Actual draw=500w.. comes with X3 lens.. 4 high powered Bridgelux Vero29 V2 LED chips @ 4000K.. 400-800nm.... PAR= 1,600.7umol@16"... Lux: 144050@16"

2. 500 Watt CXB3590 LED.... price 1199.99
States it's also designed for 48x44 area.. Actual draw=500.. X3 lens.. 4 high powered Cree CXB LED chips @ 3000K... PAR =1,750.2umol@16".. Lux: 135000 @16"

3. 2 AdvancedLED Diamond series 200-extreme 3w... $545x2= 1090
1 core coverage = 2.5x3ft.. 2 for 4x4??.. Actual draw for one= 185w (370).. Bridgelux blue and white 3w LEDs... not sure of PAR and lux..

4. 1 AdvancedLED Diamond series 400W....995
core coverage 2.5ftx4ft... actual draw 360w.. Bridgelux blue and white 3w LEDs... not sure of PAR and lux..

I haven't received any feedback on this (as to be expected i literally just posted it), but had another question that I thought would be better placed here. How the hell can I get in touch with Optic Lights or Area51??? I sent area51 an email and have yet to hear back. As for Optic-Lights, I'm hearing tons of great things about them, but am having an atrocious time trying to contact anyone. The emial they have listed apparently cannot be found. There is no phone number listed.. and the only link i can find for actually purchasing one is through ebay (not the light I want). Does anyone have any advice as to how to get in touch with these folks? For all the praise they get on here I'm surprised they are so difficult to contact. Will likely end up with diamond series if these contact troubles keep up.. Any advice?? I'd greatly appreciate some help

Thanks and be well.

This destroys every light on the list you have.

The fixtures you're looking at that have 4 CXB or vero cobs for that price are a ripoff. They're maybe $200 to make.

The advanced LEDs are great door stops and children can make forts with the box they come in. So there's a use for that junk

Why are advanced only good for door stops in your opinion? I would certainly benefit from data to show why you have such strong feelings toward them. I want to make an educated decision and blanket statements don't get me very far. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your opinion I'd just like to know why that's the case. I had heard that they were a descent lights.

They're using 3 W Cree LEDs. Osram offered the best 3w LEDs and you pay a lot more for them. CLW solar storm 2015 models exclusively use them and also the BML spydr and their light bars. If you're going 3W then I recommend Osram if you're not then stick to Cree CXB or vero 29 only from what I've seen.

I'm excited to see how my gogreen performs. Should I use CFLS for seedlings to 2 weeks then half power led til full power at flower?

How did you come to the conclusion that the optic 500 watt fixtures are $200 to make? They do have (4) Meanwell NPF-120-42 and they cost $200
And how do you know that fixture on ebay destroys a 500watt optic?
Ive never even seen one over a plant yet?

Bad math.
Case $30
Cobs 40x4 $160
Driver $60
Heatsinks 10x4 $40
Extras $10
So about $300

Cobs ran at 125w each are about 38% efficient (near HID) producing about 125 LPW.
4x125 is 58,000 lumens

The eBay unit is 16 cobs at 47% efficient
160 lumens per watt 160x16 128,000 lumens.

58k lumens vs 128k lumens
Head math so not exact but close enough!
DESTROYED!!

your math is still off. 4 drivers! and they are using CD 3590s which last I checked were $50 piece.
Last I checked this community is all about proof/testing not talk

Do you know why they used (unknown bin)3070s at that current instead of 3590s.
What type of warranty do I get with the ebay fixture?

MonsterDrank has a 500watt optic next to a 1000watt hps here on RIU now. Ask him how he likes his Optic COBs:-)

CD is 46$, just bought 6... Less for mass quantity.

this is an online form where the primary form of communication is talk and like black dog led and the bunch have proof and testing all over online but only ethereal talk so I'll propagate my opinions in math talk.

I know the bin and I've talked to them many times. They don't even have a website because they sell by word of mouth and sell fast at 20-30 units at a time. That's just a damaged unit that works with mean well drivers and at a damn good price for the hardware it has. They're exclusive to maple land. You can contact them through their link

I'll ask him how his communication is with optic instead because as of currently there's still members with a non functioning optic not gaining communication with the company.
Was optic your company? Is that why you're so defensive?

That eBay special clearly beats anything out now. I'd say it's too powerful for its foot print personally but it does crush anything in its price range.
