Twitch Extracts pneumatic press

A little math tells me that, with that size plates, you'll need a 6,119.48 lbs. press to equal the pressure of the Rosin Tech set up.
well I am just over 4700lbs so cut the plates down in size, or swap out with the dps58 that does just over 7000 at 120 psi.

Thank you that actually opens up a few different possibilities, I can take that chunk and actually have a space milled out for a temp probe and mill out the top a 1/4 inch and add threading.
my idea was to use a flat iron and have them fitted to the underside of those plates, leaving a little post for the iron to sit on.

what equation did you use to get that answer?

I am going to modify the plates I made to a little smaller size, my ultimate goal is to be able to double the number that can be pressed at once, when I received the press from RT I was very disappointed at the plate size I was told they where 2x4

Divide the surface area of the RT plates by the force of their press. That gives you the lbs/sq.in. it generates. Multiply the surface area of your plates by that number (the lbs./sq.in) and that gives you the force need to equal the pressure of the RT setup.
Edit: Sorry, make that divide the force of the press by the surface area to get the lbs/sq.in.

I wrapped up some bubble hash in cellophane and just stood on it. Seemed to be enough to do the trick. Had bought one of those little screw type aluminum presses and couldn't get the hash out of the damn thing. Plus got bits of metal in the hash.

Bear in mind presses don't always generate their advertised force, as you discovered.
Indeed, I sat down with the owner of airmite Bob, for lunch, he said RT is asking for trouble because the units were never intended for being used above 120 PSI and RT is telling people to crank them up to 140 150 psi

RT's press is based on a dps19 http://www.airmitedirect.com/product-p/dps19.htm at 120 psi they do 2356 this is a direct quote from the owner of airmite.

Maybe add a hydraulics system to the unit so you can have it bounce nicely while pressing? It'd give it that nice visual effect while making your tech different..

Not sure if the yield will increase dramatically but I think the visual yield would increase a few %..

Hey Twitch you ever planning to market these presses one day?

There's a nice lookin unit I recently discovered and wanted to see if you knew about it but don't want to disrespect by advertising it in your thread.
