You would get better plant/root development if those stems were covered up to the top of your pot, as high as possible.

I Think I should pack the soil a litle harder next time. I have already toped it once!

Not sure about packing the soil, aeration is good. Don't suffocate them, I made that mistake of over packing on transplant and two of four plants died. More roots means more foliage and a bigger harvest!

Also you should throw that soil out in the street and forget about it after this grow. Your plants need BALANCED nutrient ratios in their growing medium . Your plant looks ok, but it should be far better developed in the right substrate.
