Massive Humidity Problem - Help

Hi guys, i am going into week 7 of flowering and i am growing in my garage in the north of the UK it is getting quite cold now in this part of the country and my humidity with lights on is about 70% with lights off it was today over 80% i have gone out and bought a dehumidifier its an 18 litre one was £220.00 so not cheap and in the first 10 mins in my garage the humidity fell by 10% but then nothing since, so its still at about 65% as of now, should i have the dehumidifier in the grow tent? i currently have it outside the grow tent in my garage, the garage is not air tight by all means but you cant feel any kind of breeze when im in there, any help would be appreciated!!

how often do you have to empty that dehumidifier to hold that 10% drop?

I only bought it today and emptied 3.5litres once in the first 2 hours since then its just been slowy filling up but its now night time and not as warm, my issue with in the tent is i have a fan pulling air from my garage with a humidity of say 80% so is it going to work or should i shut off the intake fan now and just place the dehumidifier next to the intake hole and let that suck the fresh air into the tent?

It would probably be more effective in the tent if you can afford the space and more important if you can afford the heat as it will increase the temps. Not necessarily a bad thing as temps rise your humidity typically falls. Question is how much room for additional heat do you have in your current setup...

Well i have a heater in my grow tent at the minute as the temps without a heater would be below 20degrees so in reality i could easily turn the heater down and put the dehumidifier in thats no problem at all, but like i said should i take the intake fan off, as that is obviously going to pull humid air from my garage into my tent anyway

Yeah, worth a try for sure, it could help with both temps and humidity.

Ill do that then ill take the intake fan off and ill place my dehumidifier right next to the ducting hole were my intake fan was, that way the dehumidifier will pull air in at a slower pace than the fan and hopefully the humidity will fall rapidly, the intake fan is only to bring new c02 into the tent so the dehumidifier will act as that fan anyway i would assume?

If you have room in the tent---- and if you have a drain in the garage-----and if your unit came with a hose drain port on the collector tray------then mount the unit higher than the drain and run a hose to it.

yes alaric i have all of that which is what i can do aswell, although in fairness the tank on the machine is 3.5 litres and im in the garage twice a day so i can easily empty it by hand if needs be so that is no problem at all

If you have an exhaust fan that runs for 30 min after lights go off this should help. There is a huge spike in humidity when they shut off due to transpiration. If your lights are air cooled, they will trap in heat when your lights go off, this will also cause humidity. When using an intake make sure you always use a hepa filter, the last thing you want is mold spores and humidity

Problem solved i bought a dehumidifier costing £220 i know its not cheap but it took the humidity down from in the 80s to now in the 40s job done haha

Problem solved i bought a dehumidifier costing £220 i know its not cheap but it took the humidity down from in the 80s to now in the 40s job done haha

lil confused so what fixed it? 2 dehum?

No 1 Dehumidifier just outside the intake works very well
