Trouble with Optic Grow Lights website???

Okay, thanks…That's good to know.

Maybe IF they come back online and everything ends up being good-to-go with Optic, then I should consider the next smaller version and not the 360 watter? Is it just the 360 watt version that has the too-small case problem? I don't want anything to get too hot or get fried or whatever!
bro learning how to build your own is great advice. you can build a killer lamp for 700 and you will learn so much in the process. i bought a 360 and then built a cxb3590 cd 200w. i married them into a single unit.

the 360 doesnt get too hot the issue is even coverage. the cobs should be spaced in a better config.

I concur with @testiclees - doing it yourself at your own pace is the way to go. Right now it makes more sense than ever to DIY COB-based fixtures, as they are remarkably feasible in comparison to HID setups, even when driven below nominal operation conditions, and even boast higher light/heat (efficiency) potential.

The real question is, where do you begin?

tstick do you know how EASY it is to build a COB based light? There's no trick. Figure out what emitters you want for your space, pick a driver, pick a piece of aluminum to stick them on and wire them up. You don't have to drill or solder. It's too easy. You could of built one in the time this thread has been running. Optic isn't anything special. They're not some horticulture company nor are most of the COB based grow panel companies in the game. They don't have some special ability compared to other COB based panels. Plus you can build it to fit your space. And if you really want you can buy cases like Optic's from Mouser or some Army surplus store.

Does an Optic panel really look that professional to you? It's always been a bit of a joke to me and when I see how they go about their business it just reinforces that opinion. Start a thread stating what size room you have and that you want to build a COB. You'll have a dozen answers in a few hours and after a good healthy bitchfest, you'll have your panel(s). Oh and doing it DIY will answer all those questions with a healthy "who the eff cares, I'm in control!".
Well, as far as"looking" professional, I would have to say that most of the cheap, Chinese Blurple lights LOOK the most professionally-built -from the outside, so I wasn't going by the looks so much. But I had been reading that the Optic lights were great because they were the most efficient and effective LED grow lights on the market. I kind of thought the looks of the "lunchbox" was kinda cool. It looks like a case for a set of socket wrenches to me! But, hey, what do I know?

I have an Area51 SGS 160 and a 40" X 40" X 78" space. In past grows, I got "okay" results….good enough. But I wanted to step up to a higher powered light and from the comments, the Optic was the way to go……BUT NOW?!?!?!

I'll give it a little while for the dust to settle, but if they don't have their stuff back up and running by next week, then maybe I will try and figure out how to go about building my own. I could probably do it…but I hate jumping into something like that without a lot of time to prepare and gather information….and I kind of need a light sooner rather than later.

The Optic is showing its age now. 120Vero18 a year old , but in the end will be known as the 1st production COB based fixture. If I was to get picky? Spacing a little out whack, Doesn't have dimming capability, Wiring could be better.

I can tell you all that the Silicon lenses Ive been playing with the last 4 months seems to have taken away those COB hotspots and light is more evenly distributed across the canopy on the 2nd gens.

mine is 6 mos old. makes sweet hard nugs, stays pretty cool and dramatically more effective than my last light. (mars)

i solved the coverage issue w 4x 3590, 2 on each end.

What, I can't like another's COHERENT and reasonable comment? What did I ever do to you to piss you off, buddyboy?
True colors, why is that before you replied, you erased that IM you sent me last week, asking why I didn't list your light in one of my responses?

I am just curious why you are into making enemies, not your commenting habits.

I didn't erase that comment. It should still be there and if it's not, then idk. I do know that I don't go back and rehash comments from weeks ago just to make another member look like a pos. Maybe you should get over yourself, ignore me, and move on with your life here on RIU?

Yeah, the way your dogging now gives me the impression your goal is to make me look like a piece of shit. Call it whatever you want though.
