Organic Growers: Breed or Cloning?

do you breed or keep mothers? Probably both I assume...

I just can Not get a Clone for the life of me! So I was thinking of just sticking to Breeding Seeds and doing it the Old fashion way... Not to say they did not graft and make cuttings back in ye day because they have for hundreds of years.

But I just want to know what you all think? I'm thinking of strict breeding and No clones.

remember a cloned plant can be done and flowered in 50-60 days. (depending on the strain, of course)
no friggin way you're getting beans to produce that fast, not to mention allll the space for the males and such.
course you could go with feminized seeds

Greasemonkey, I'm sure using distilled water is better, but I've had great success with plain old water straight from the tap from my own well. Why should I use distilled in your opinion? Thanks.

for me, I have hardwater, (also well water) and the tap isn't sterile, so that's my reasoning behind it.
BUT I have used ONLY tap before and did alright, but it seems to be faster with higher success% with the distilled

tap water always worked for me. i use distilled now, but seriously no difference between the two. if anything the city water will help bacterial growth from happening in the aero cloner, which is that case is a good thing. i've had scummy lookin roots from trying to add a little something to the cloner, and changed the water out for straight city water, in 2 days everything was nice again. that's when i decided that really water is all you need. especially if you foliar with aloe during the cloning process. i'm going to start incorporating that into my cloning regiment now.

I used to be interested in making my own crosses, but ran out of enthusiasm when it became evident that it takes many, many, many crosses to find a keeper and I ended up running lots of mediocre seeds, taking up valuable space in the garden. Now I buy the best seeds I can and make a clone of each, then waiting for harvest and using only the best one...cloning is easy, you just need to experiment a bit.

Soak rockwool on a light nutrient solution. .6 EC and ph of 5.8. Place rockwool cube in grodan smart tray inside a flat. Place clones in cube. Put on dome. Leave it and come back 7 days later. Try to keep temp inside of domes around 80 degrees.

yeah, but according to you, you didn't though man, if you used any gels and ph'ed tap water, that's NOT the advice I gave you brother.
Distilled water, clean everything, even in 100+ temps I was getting 95% success.
My WATER wasn't 100 degrees, just the weather, but I don't have an AC, soooo
In my experience with a bubble cloner, it's crucial to have distiiled water, no rooting anything, and a clean bubbler
in about 12 days I have roots, as early as 6 days for some varieties, like the bluedream and the madberry

I Am going to go and buy like 3gal of Distilled water and we shall see.

I just feel like unless I'm distilling my own water that's it's kind of a waste of money I mean that's $3-5 every week or two or Just clone water!

I don't know! Maybe it's THE LORD telling me To Breed. We do need to keep Breeding and Selecting the Best of the Best and a lot of the potentates are usually just cloned and kept as a clone instead of Thoroughly breeding the best for Seed like back in the day.

But some Known mothers and clones Woukd be nice!

yeah that's very interesting you say that! That's kind of why I do want to clone but why I Also feel I Need to breed! To help keep Pure Seed alive! But haha Dreams are shit aren't they!

You need to kiss. Cut clones with as large of an angle as possible and try to get a node close. Put them in a cup of water and change every other day and soon you will have roots. I would bet on it.

Ahhh man... i'm an atheist so asking me if the lord is wanting you to clone is confusing at best.
My method is simple, my brother, get new party cups, get masking tape on each one (so you can i.d. them), go get your cuts, using an exacto knife or an extremely sharp and clean pair of scissors, take cuts, put cuts in each cup, fill your CLEAN ezcloner with distilled water to about an inch below the manifold (or maybe the bottom of it to help keep it cooler).
Add cuts to cloner, turn cloner on. and place under a single12" t5, keep the t5 about 6-7 inches from the tops.
in about 10-20 days you'll have roots.
no scraping, adding gels, ph'ing or anything.
I prefer the more green cuts as opposed to the woodier ones

EVERYTHING I have made on my own was damn good, you just gotta get good parents.
now whether or not it's gonna be stable is another issue, but if you are looking for special phenos and uniqueness? just to get some dna to clone?
Pollen chucking is the only way man.
Go get a couple Bodhi strains and cross em, see what happens... you'll be high-fiving yourself man

I started with an aero-cloner and had great luck for a while. Then, I could not keep the "brown slime" away, no matter how I cleaned it. So, I bought a water chiller($400) without sucess, and that hurt.
I use RootRiot cubes now, but I am not telling you what to do. I am telling you to keep trying and find what works best for you! In my case, I could not just throw money at the problem and buy better equipment to fix it.

pretty sure the brown slime is from the water not being distilled, or your cloner not being clean.
It's sorta like a AACT, if you add water and aeration to microbes they multiply... even the bad ones.
I run hydrogen peroxide after each clone cycle, I use half distilled water, and half h202.
it's also crucial to have those little round foam thingys either soaked in a bleach solution or better yet, just replace them, they aren't expensive.
I think your "great luck" when it was new, was because it was sterile.
I bet you could bust that sucker out again and be cloning with great success in no time.

But I have tap water, and it's not sterile at all.
I've heard of some using a pool chlorine product to help, but I have no experience with that.
I have used aloe as a rooting gel when I did the dome method, but I had only maybe 60% success rate, and they took forever.
aloe is some awesome stuff to use as a foliar, especially mixed with a silica product
