outdoor auto questions

I started shopping for strains for next year and started looking at autos. Some claim 4+ ounces per plant. Some as high as high as 8. This to me is un-real.
I live in the northern atlantic region and grow 1-2 pounds plants consistently, year after year, but it is stressful. Fear of frost, rain, helicopter, rot, blah, blah..... If I can get 4-8 oz per plant and be done by beginning of Sept. Im in!
Can anyone verify or despute these claims?
Just for the nay sayers, here's some pics of this year.

If things seem too good to be true they usually are.... I could see 2 ounces possible but thats pushing it. Stick with the real mccoy.....

Ya I haven't heard of anyone even getting 4 oz of an auto. 2 is pushing it like vn said. I ran autos for the first time this year and pulled 5 off of 7 plants

Thanks man ya they were pretty good. Some I was dissspointed with initial flavor but it improved after the cure. And I had a few that had great potent earthy flavor right after a 2 day quick dry.

Kannabia autoflower was the best autoflower I have grown. It produces hard little nugs, with an almost minty fruity smell. I got roughly 2 ounces from each plant in a 3 gallon buckets. They took a few weeks longer to finish than my other autoflowers, but the wait was worth it.

I have searched high and low for yield reports, all seem to be 2010 and earlier. Breeders keep spouting claims of the "new generation" of autos. Claiming 75-250g per plant, planted in the ground with lots of sun.
I mention this because I wonder how recent your experience was.
I would really like these claims to be true....

I have been growing for the last 10 yrs and fidgeting with autos same amount of time. those claims are bullshit. do you believe everything you read? why would you want to grow an auto when you are growing pounds off of regular plants? Doesnt make sense to me even to finish early, but whatever floats the boat

I am in an area where frost hits early, rotting buds are a serious issue this time of year, the last week and a half helicopters have been gracing me with their presence. I do not believe everything I read. Not even half of it. But when many breeders (Barneys, seedsman, nirvana, etc) make claims thst would solve my worries/issues, why wouldnt I look into it and ask the questions? That was the point of the thread.
This was one of my plants 20150927_082217_4.jpg about 10 min ago.

What do you mean, different? Not as airy, more compact, scraggly, shitty?
The ones I grew were airy and it sounds wierd but they wouldn't grind up properly in my hand grinder or my magic bullet. Like the calyx's would still be intact and no mater how much I turned it wouldn't break up enough to fall through the holes. Maybe I'm just fucked though

@BcDigger that's how most of my autos turned out! Airy crappy looking buds.

Except for the kannabia special auto! She was a very nice auto plant, I grew it two years ago. Harvested 9 ounces off of 5 plants.

Or try wild rose ss early bud. It is not an autoflower but a fast flowering plant. I just chopped mine yesterday, looks like I'll get at least 3 ounces off of her!

And woah man I've never seen a bud that covered in frost! Must have got pretty cold hey? We had a light frost a week ago but it didn't do any damage.

No damage on mine either. Some wilting on the very tops of the colas but all is well. Supposed to be warm for the next week but some rain. Mould will be my issue now.

Airy shitty buds are no good. I will have to continue my search for earlier finishing strains. I hate losing bud to rot after taking care of them all summer.

I know the feeling man. Trust me with the kannabia special auto and ss early. The kannabia special auto produced small buds, but they were dense, also very little mould on them, I only lost a few grams of bud to mould out of the 9 ounces I harvested. I've also tried northern lights outdoors and she finished late September with no mould.
