Grow Tent Clip-On Fans

I'm putting together my first grow tent and have a question about circulating fans. I've read many people use clip-on fans for relatively small grow tents. To my understanding clip-on fans are not typically oscillating yet I've read you need oscillating fan(s) in your tent.

Is there a way to create an oscillating effect with clip-on fans or does it even matter.

Thanks,

I use them. At walmart they are ten bucks. They are very handy. They do not necessarily need to oscillate. That may be ideal to move air around and to prevent the wind from over drying leaves, but not everyone has space for an oscillating fan.

In my opinion they work just fine.

Dont go with the cheap clip on ones. I did and I had to duct tape them to the side poles cause if I just left them with just the clip everytime the vent turned on it would create alot of suction in the tent and the sides would bow in. When the sides bowed in is when it happened, it slowly pushed it right off on all 4 corners of the tent and I woke up to four clip on fand on the girls. You can clip them on the top rails but you need decent ones with good fan speed to blow any significant air down to the plants. The cheap ones are a step above a fart for wind speed. Good luck

Thanks for the heads up...

I'm looking at buying a 3' x 3' tent and buying a 16" oscillating fan seams like overkill. I'm thinking of getting 1, 2 or 4 of the Hortiline 5W clip fans.

Best,
It may seem like overkill for the little girls (and it is), but when they get bigger, you will want them to have enough strength to hold up those fat nugs. You can stake the shit out of them, but that makes it a pain to water them (even with a wand). Your seedling will like the clip on fan, but they will not be enough for a mature plant. Get a 4x4 so you have more floor space for a fan. That is one aspect people overlook when they buy their tent. You still need to put a fan in there and it has to be a decent one. I have also hung them from the ceiling just oscillating and spinning around, but It really misses a lot of the tent.
