If you skimp on equipment and nutes indoors...expect a skimpy harvest! I'f I'm wrong please show me otherwise!
Well, no shitIf you skimp on equipment and nutes indoors...expect a skimpy harvest! I'f I'm wrong please show me otherwise!
LOL...apparently everyone does not agreeWell, no shit
Regarding the T5's... let me know and I will give them a test run. I don't knock anything until I've tried it myself. It is all about efficiency and scale. From your plant's perspective, they don't care if the photons come from Gavita Pros or CFL... they just need enough photons in the proper balance. If not in balance, then your plants simply ignore some photons. Both HPS and standard CFL produce photons with a high percentage that are simply ignored. HPS fixtures typically produce a lot of heat... this wasted heat energy never even makes it to photons.
While standard HPS lamps have pretty much all the same output spectrum, CFLs do not. The CFL output spectrum is highly dependent on phosphor mixture used to coat the glass inside the tube. With phosphor mixtures targeted for plant growth and not lumens for humens, CFLs can surpass the efficiency of HPS... because they can also have a targeted growth spectrum like LEDs. Targeted phosphor CFLs can also approximate the energy efficiency of LEDs for a fraction of the cost.
In about two months, I will be launching a new line of targeted phosphor 24 watt CFLs... we will have 8 different models with different phosphor mixtures. The target consumer are peeps that are growing a few plants in their closet or attic for personal consumption.
And two of these models will do something that HPS and LED can't do... add UVB to the mixture of light so as to make your plants produce more THC. But you don't have to throw away your Gavita Pros, you can just augment the light with UVB for a couple of hours each day to get more potent weed.
And next year, we will launch a line of T5 targeted phosphor fluorescent tubes... these will truly give your Gavita Pros a run for the money... with higher percentages of THC.
T5's may not pull they same weight as hid but the quality is better. I'm starting a 432 watt t5 grow that I'm going to try to pull a pound off of.Regarding the T5's... let me know and I will give them a test run. I don't knock anything until I've tried it myself.
At the end of the day the PowerVeg looks like its only going to give you 5k lumens per bulb at best. I personally veg under T8s for a few weeks then throw them right under a coupe of 600w HPS lights then I work them up to 1000W. I know T8s have less lumens but they run a lot cooler. Sometimes they grow right into the light and not even the slightest burn. Can't do that with a T5 esp not a T5HOhttp://www.eyehortilux.com/products/power-veg.aspx
These guys make good hid lamps I'm going to try these in my t5 fixture
Oh Wow!... Your going to flower with a T5... Please post your journal when you do. I would love to see it!T5's may not pull they same weight as hid but the quality is better. I'm starting a 432 watt t5 grow that I'm going to try to pull a pound off of.
4 Gavita Pros turned down to 600w 22k Btu of cooling a co2 generator at around 1400 btu and my electric bill only went up 150 during veg and 100 during flower. I don't think that is that bad for the results... almost 80 ouncesIt's all about candlelight, bro. Electric bills are for suckers.
When I launch my products, I am going to be giving 90% coupons in return for honest reviews... for peeps in this forum. Stay tuned.Regarding the T5's... let me know and I will give them a test run. I don't knock anything until I've tried it myself.
Cool... I would love to do a journal side by side with the same wattage and post it! Then of course my favorite part... the taste test reviewWhen I launch my products, I am going to be giving 90% coupons in return for honest reviews... for peeps in this forum. Stay tuned.
Remember "Lumens is for Humans", not plants. Want to get the best lumens?... then go out and buy a green phosphor lamp... it will be the best lumens available, but your plants will use about 24% of the green light and ignore the rest. Forget lumens when comparing grow lights. At the end of the day the PowerVeg looks like its only going to give you 5k lumens per bulb at best. People with limited space doing stealth grows have produced some extremely dank bud, albeit in small quantities, using CFLs. Scale is important. You're right, no cash cropper or caregiver would use CFL, but for someone with limited space in a cannabis unfriendly environment growing for themselves it makes sense.Cool... I'm by far not the strongest weed in the dispensary, but every time I use a 1000w HPS (s) and my climate is under control, I get 1.5 to 2 pounds per plant. Of course that's after a 2 month veg and some super cropping / defoliation (plant huggers don't be mad). The quality is extremely good as well I must say! Like I said I'm going to definitely give your products a go but from the CFL grows that I have seen... I'm a bit skeptical.Remember "Lumens is for Humans", not plants. The best grow light measurements somewhat commonly available are:
PPF (Photosynthetic Photon Flux) - Measures photons in a wavelength range of 400nm to 700nm. Measured in radially in a globe.
PPFD (Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density) - Measures photons in a wavelength range of 400nm to 700nm. Measured directionally at point of use.
EPPF (Expanded Photosynthetic Photon Flux) - Measures photons in a wavelength range of 380nm to 750nm. Measured radially in a globe. A more realistic range.
All these measurements do consider balance of color wavelengths... which is very important. The balance?... well that depends on who you are talking to.
POSERS
If a seller is touting the "lumens" of their "grow lights", then they are selling "street lights"(HID) or "office/home" lights (standard CFL) posing as "grow lights" so that they can dupe people into paying a higher price for a grow light.

I must say that looks pretty damn cool!https://www.rollitup.org/t/oak-wardrobe-organic-grow.870933/
That is my old one. It was during the hottest part of summer. Now its cooled off Im starting again.
Loom at @RM3 jounals. He kills it with t5.
I can tell you now even if you use hps throw some t5 or t8 blues in there. You will get better tric and resin production.
