Much like a double rainbow it doesn't really "mean" anything. It just sort of happens and if you're on drugs it might blow your mind.
Sometimes this happens, whenever it has happened to me the plant was either a male or grew out of it.

Triploid/polyploidy has to due with # of chromosomes. I believe the correct term is trifoliate.

Most likely not caused by any nutrient/additive.
no trifoliate is to do with amount of leaflets, its a triploid....
 
Triploid would imply it has 3 sets of chromosomes.

He is right, you are wrong. That definition backs up what he was saying.

A triploid organism, variety or species is one that has three sets of chromosomes instead of two. It is not about a physical characteristic of the organism.
