Reflective Mylar works good but I prefer white/black poly- some growers call it tuxedo or panda film- it's lighter, cheaper, and reflects like 90% light. I hung it to my walls with a staple gun but you could prolly get away with duct tape. It's great for closing up light leaks and it's thick enough to build a door or partition. You can even glue Velcro or a zipper to it.

Awesome I checked it out will probably look better too in black

Don't forget to bathtub the floor with a couple layers of Panda also. It's really easy to ruin the floors with standing water that might not get checked for months. I know from experience.

I have carpet in my closet should I remove it and install tile?

I would replace the carpet if you are able and it's not that big a deal for you...

You might clean often but things will happen, I promise. Nutes SMELL and you'll get some on the carpet eventually lol :) Or you'll spill water and not notice or have a leak and not notice. Also, carpet is dirtier and I bet mold and mites and thrive better and are harder to get rid of in carpet.

At the same time, it's not a big deal.. Nothing a little cardboard and panda paper can't protect you from...

I converted a closet using reflective insulation using a similar technique to what you're doing. After three runs in there and battling all kinds of bugs (aphids, gnats, now spider mites) I'm going to rip the whole thing out and get a tent that will fit into the closet.

It can be really difficult to rid a closet of pests because with the gap between the mylar and the wall, and all the issues with the carpet (or the floor itself) and whatever you put over it to protect it, there are just too many places for them to avoid sprays and cleansers. My understanding is that with a tent, you can spray it and wipe it down between cycles, and its a basically a continuous sealed system that can be efficiently and effectively cleaned periodically.

Just a thought.

Well that's where I have my tent now and I have none of those issues yet my closet is small but big enough to make a decent lite grow room and my closet offers no hiding places for such things especially if I remove the carpet and add tile

I like the insulating foil in our closet. It's secured with 1" roofing nails that has a cap on them. Works well. Happy growing

home depot sells some really great reflective material. I bought a 10x100' roll for 500.00. they sell smaller amounts as well. but... I would have liked to use plywood painted with flat white paint. but I had time restraints (was winter and cant paint in a 10* garage/shop).

and remove the carpet. bugs LOVE to nest in carpeting.
