CULTIVATION, LIGHT DEP10
What Times Should You Pull Tarp for A Light Dep? 3 Methods
By Pearl Moon · On June 2, 2015
Days became longer than nights after the spring vernal equinox on March 21. From then until July or August is a good time to start covering your light dep setups.

Method 1: Old School Light Dep
The old school method is to close in the evening at 7 p.m. and open in the morning at 7 a.m. This method works great if you have enough ventilation during the whole grow, especially the bud cycle. Ventilation is an important component to all light deps.

Method 2: So You Can Sleep In
Another method is to close at 5 p.m., opening after dark and letting the plants wake up naturally with the sun the next morning. This method works best if you have the sun shining on your plants as soon as it comes up. Knowing the direction your land faces the sun is critical for a successful light dep.

Method 3: Faster Results
Another method is one that shortens the duration 3 to 4 weeks without any loss of size, weight or quality of product. Close at 6 p.m., open at 7 a.m. to give the plants 13 hours of darkness. A lot of ventilation is needed in this one.

How to Ventilate Light Dep Grows
When closing at night, deps can be opened up after dark and closed up at 4 a.m. before sunrise; this is for ventilation. Fans are necessary to keep the air moving to prevent mold. There are other time methods but these are tried and true with great results!
90% shade cloth is all that is available in my area that I can buy local. I have a green house. I was wondering if I bought 2 shade cloth covers that are both 90%, would I get COMPLETE black out with no light coming thru by putting one cloth on top of the other ? The plants have been covered for around 2 weeks from 7-to-7 now using the black poly plastic crap that is 6 mil from Home Depot as well as I hang 3.5 mil flimsy black poly on the inside walls of the green house all the way around, THEN another 3.5 mil black poly on top of the 6 mil. I'm going to get mold issues if I don't do something very soon. The point is, the plants have already adjusted to COMPLETE black out and I'd like to stick with complete black out until the day they are cut down. I plan on running a sulfur burner anyway, but I still want to lessen the chances of mold but I also want to stick with 100% black out. Will 2 covers of shade cloth that are 90% each give me complete darkness ? It is taking me about 40 mins every evening to fidget with all that plastic and it is a major PITA.

What do you think about my situation ?

NICE man its cool to have a buddy raging the dep too with such luscious flavors. i am doing 12x35 with 10 ft of headroom all told with 12 plants. pretty stuffed already:)
i am doin a 8" intake on one end with 2 U fittings same as you.... and a 6" on the other the 6" i dug a hole and am going underground to see if it will come out warmer/cooler with a 10ft run
catching up on the reading and when i saw 8" intake and 6" on the other end i thought hmm that is way too small. first year grower but i build and remodel from the ground up and ive seen people go way too small on venting for coolers. anyways just my 2 cents

not enough airflow in my space to heep the humidity down . hows yours doing ?
hope better than mine . lol. up to 2 6 inch and one eight inch inline wahhhhh wahhhhh ...
what goes in? must have a place to go out. i drove by a neighbors place who was installing a cooler and saw he had a 12" opening for the whole house. i causally mentioned "you might want to make that hole bigger" heres another example of in and out airflow. 4600cfm master cool on a buddies garage. the "pro" installers at the AC shop only gave him 1 upduct to exhaust the air. took a bit of force to open the door to his garage (the door swung in) that installation needed 4 upducts to properly vent. wish id read the posts sooner but almost current :)

yea its easy to see now but my issue was freezing them too early . the blue dream really dilikes below 50*F weather early in flower . she really locks out the nitrogen and phos ... so it was a balencing act between too cold and too humid ...
GB i stopped pulling my tarp yesterday :) some of my 8 week strains are looking done at 50 days in...

would some type of variable speed fan work for that situation where u need a little airflow early but then more air later?

Hot and smokey day today, 107 forecasted on the radio. I've been spraying every 3 days to try to keep on top off the spidermites, damn bugs are on crack in this heat.

Canopy Shot.

I haven't had any problems with mold from spraying. I like to spray early in the morning.
Most of my mold problems came from caterpillar infected buds getting rained on.
