I decided to spray after I had already started the plant in a large pot but next time I will do as everythingshazy said and use a smaller pot. You can also just spray one branch but I don't think I could be that meticulous to pull that off successfully. What size pot are you using for your male? I want to give it a go but don't want to use a 3 or five gallon pot and take up space in my tent
Actually the amount of pollen I got was small, just a few grains, and we'll have to see if I get any seeds out of it. I would sure hate to have ruined that plant for nothing.Glad you got some pollen, unfortunately all my balls stayed empty, too bad, I really needed that.
What is your opinion on increasing the chances of pollen, colloidal water or letting the plant die.
Thanks
If you are planning on spraying only one branch, it helps to lst that branch straight out horizontally, so the bud sites are far enough from the other branches, that over spray isn't a problem. You need to do it in a room without a fan tho, and might want to use a sheet of paper or something to block the rest of the plant while you are actually doing the spraying. The main thing you miss out on with this method, is being well ahead of the game with the pollen, when the female flowers are at their peak production. If you only reverse one branch, you might end up having to pollinate later in flower. All depends on the strain, and your cs/application technique.I decided to spray after I had already started the plant in a large pot but next time I will do as everythingshazy said and use a smaller pot. It seems like sometimes with these reversed pants, you don't get as much pollen pouring out of the flowers as with normal males. Wait until there are some flowers already opening by themselves, and then put a bag around the branch and hit it around a bit to have whatever flowers are the most mature, fall off into the bag. Then spread them out on a plate to dry, and pick at them with something sharp, or thin, like a credit card edge. Take the stamens (bananas) out, and put them on glass, and then tap them with something. Pollen should puff out onto the glass. Even if it's just a little bit, you can use a straight edge razor or something to push it into a small pile. It takes very very little to get a ton of seeds. Hopefully you'll get enough from this plant for successful pollination.Actually the amount of pollen I got was small, just a few grains, and we'll have to see if I get any seeds out of it. The plant is sitting in a vase over a glass pie plate right now. I will let it sit for a couple more days and then do what you said. All the pistils on the bottom branches I left on the recipient female shriveled fast, so I am hopeful there are seeds, if not I will have some pollen saved in the freezer for the next batch. I will be doing the Auto Ultimate again. I like how she grows and I like the effect and potency. I also like the Fantasmo's effect and potency. The others I tried this year weren't what I wanted, one was very potent but, that's all it was, just strong, I couldn't think well and it was more of a sit and vegetate high which I really don't care for so much. The Ultimate is an Indica and by all rights should be similar to that but she has a good combination of physical and enough cerebral to make it a good evening smoke, which is what I want when I want it. I haven't smoked anything in a while, just haven't needed to lately, but when the arthritis flares up and my feet start hurting bad the ultimate works great without knocking me out.It seems like sometimes with these reversed pants, you don't get as much pollen pouring out of the flowers as with normal males. It also occurred to me I could crush the flowers and rub them through a fine sieve. What do you think, would that damage the pollen? It seems like sometimes with these reversed pants, you don't get as much pollen pouring out of the flowers as with normal males. No problem, man. Fantasmo and Auto Ultimate both sound like pretty nice strains. The plant is sitting in a vase over a glass pie plate right now. Thanks for the advise.
I think you should be fine crushing the flowers and sifting out the pollen. I would try to gently shake it a little bit to see if the pollen falls through the mesh, without having to be rubbed against it, but I don't think either way will ruin it. Just make sure your flowers are super dry before crushing them, or you'll end up getting the remaining moisture all mixed up with your pollen, which will definitely ruin it.It also occurred to me I could crush the flowers and rub them through a fine sieve. crushing the flowers is going to release moisture and trap up what little pollen you have, the moisture may also render any other pollen near it non viable best to smack them lightly against something like glass and scrape the pollen up with a razor blade. It also occurred to me I could crush the flowers and rub them through a fine sieve. Also, if the pistils shriveled up, that's a good sign. If they were pollinated. the calyxes should probably start swelling within a couple weeks.

I would only sift the dry flowers, besides I pulled an opened dry flower off one of the two bottom branches and quite a bit of pollen fell out which I immediately rubbed on the few pistils left. I think I'm fine, the damn pollen is so fine my old decrepit eyes can't see it very well.. The calyxes are swelling so I believe I should have a crop of seeds in a few weeks.crushing the flowers is going to release moisture and trap up what little pollen you have, the moisture may also render any other pollen near it non viable best to smack them lightly against something like glass and scrape the pollen up with a razor blade.
thats sucky, but hey shit happens lolSo, here's the bad news. We got a week of over 100* weather (38* C) and the last day it hit 105. I hadn't checked on the parent for a day but had just watered her the day before. She was only about a 2 foot high plant when she was full and I had trmmed off the top main cola and branches leaving the bottom 2.She was in a 5 gallon container with excellent drainage so I know she didn't dry out or drown, but when I checked her in the evening of the hottest day she had wilted. I gave her a good dose of water but she's gone. I got maybe 3 viable seeds out of her, the rest were only partly formed. I still have pollen saved though, lots now, so I will germ a seed after it dries and I refrigerate it for a week and I'll get one more in before winter sets in. I will order some more seeds too for future cross breeding next spring.
The seed stores its energy within for when the time comes to grow. If its too warm or too moist in its anvironment then it will use all the stored energy within and you wont know till you try to germinate it. After the seeds come off the pod put them in a cool dark low humidity place, let them dry for a couple weeks and then store them in a air tight container in the same type of environment. All those are important factor for preserving the viability of the seedsWell I pollinated a jock Horror with a reversed blueberry, it is a lot of work, I gave the seeds 5 weeks to grow, by then the plants triches were all dark orange, I did not mind since I wanted seeds.
The colour is Brown and there are many.
Twice now I have tried to pop 10 at a time in paper towels in a plate ( have been using this method for many years) but not a single one is viable, any idea what went wrong.
