Finding a grower

So coming from the east coast where do you go in Colorado to meet and hang out with more growers. I feel like every social event iv been too( which as only been two visits) has result in nothing. Everyone seems super sketched out talking to someone form the east coast and I am bombarded by stories about people getting in trouble. I feel like most of the trouble that iv seen on the news and read about has come from people being extremely careless. So where do I go to meet good people.
