I really like this strain! I can't believe how huge they've gotten in just five gallon containers! +rep

Thanks man. Nirvana's site said this was an easy strain to grow, good for in-experience growers (which I am), and could take harsh conditions. And the heat has been harsh. But, other than losing a few fan leaves, so far no problems.

And, if you read from the beginning, I used Miracle Grow Potting soil. The kind that has slow release fertilizer in the soil, so I didn't do any additional fertilizing until the plants were 2 months old. You know, the kind that's supposed to be no good. When I did start fertilizing, I use.... you guessed it Miracle Grow all purpose. I'm using something called Super Bloom now.

So, before anyone posts and says, you're plants are going to die, or your bud will have a bad taste, keep it to yourself.

The plants could still die, but it will not be because of miracle grow. And the bud could taste bad, but the miracle grow will be long gone by then. So, don't want to hear it.

Ok like I said, one of my plants started flowering in June, but they all are now. I finally go a camera good enough to take some bud shots. Some of these aren't so great, but some are. I need to work with the camera a little more, figure out how close to get, and how much to zoon. Enjoy.

I had to take a ladder out this morning to add some support to the main colas because they are too tall to do from the ground.

I thought you might like some pictures with the 6ft ladder for scale.

My little plant that started flowering early got it's last feeding yesterday, I think it will be finished in about 2 weeks.

very nice!

is kaya gold just an outdoor strain, or could it be done indoors too?
Nirvana says that it is good under harsh conditions, outdoors in heat, or for inexperienced indoor growers. We had 20 days in the spring that hit 90 degrees. And it has been hot since summer. Many days 97,98 degrees, probably 5 days over 100. Other than losing some fan leaves, and me hauling a ton of water, they are hanging in there.

The tallest plant is almost 10 ft tall. I had no clue they would get that big growing in 5 gallon buckets.

This is such a stable strain and it still baffle's me how well they are doing in just five gallon containers. Looks like you'll be getting a real nice return for all your hard work!:weed:

I read a thread on her from a guy who got a pound off of a plant in a 5 gallon bucket. I think that was probably perfect conditions. My goal was a1/4lb per plant. I won't get that much off of the small one, I'm thinking maybe a couple of ounces. But, I think I may beat that with the other four, maybe 1/3rd maybe more.

I'm pretty happy for my first real grow.

CarolinaGreen, thanks for posting this info with photos. Wow...your potted plants are huge. I chose Kaya Gold strain for similar reasons as you: (a) easy for total newbie, (b) toughness in harsh conditions, (c) comparatively good pest resistance, (d) absence of strong "skunky" smell to avoid unwanted attention. I am in a legal state but still want to maintain maximum security. Will be doing entire grow outdoors, from germination to harvest. Am waiting until mid or late April to plant my feminized seeds directly into their black plastic air root pruning 12.5-gal. pots; I was going to use 5-gal pots until I looked at your info. Am reading everything I can online, watching videos and reading books like Jeff Lowenfels' Teaming With Fungi. The Organic Grower's Guide To Mycorrhizae.

Question for you: If you were to grow this strain again or if you were to grow another tall strain, would you use the "fimming" method of topping your plants at their 3rd or 5th node to reduce their height?
