whattup RIU! Hope all is well with all! So i started my first grow with some clones on June 10. I have been using a 8 bulb 4 foot T5 in a 8x4 tent. I have been exhausting with a 6in Hyperfan however i cant get the canapy under 81 with the light about 6-9 inches on top of them. if I put only 4 bulbs on, temps drop to 75 and i can drop the light 2-3 inches off of them. so my question is which is better 1)4 bulbs/2-3 inches/75ish temps or 8 bulbs/82 max temps/6 inches? i also have a 16 in wall mount blowing kinda on the light.
i really want to use all 8 bulbs however i dont want to put my t5 TOO far away from them. any help would be much appreciated. oh yea i run the lights at night for the most part....4pm-10am. peace and happy growing yall!

i have a thermometer in with the plants in one of their pots right next to my sensor for envrnmt. controller and i get heat. with just four bulbs on it stays around 74-76 with exhaust fan on. 82 max w/ 8bulbs. so the heat difference has to be coming from the fixture/bulbs. but i have to raise the lights to at least 6 inches instead of 2 when i have 4 bulbs on. they seem little happier with half the of it in but i want to get the most from my setup as possible. i also have read i dont need crazy amounts of light in veg. i just really want to do whats best for them i guess. what would u do diabolic? thanx for the reply btw.

ok im goin to keep trying 8 bulb and keep an eye on them. if i gave them 8 bulbs for say 50% of their 18 hours and 4 bulbs for the rest would that bother them?

I don't see 80f as being a problem.. Even 82f. I would be concerned with temps once you start running the big guns in flower.... Save yourself the headache and put an air conditioner where it'll reach the grow space

ugh dont say that sno....i dont want to! my basement temps stay pretty cool and stable. and temps dont get too crazy out here. i will have an 8in to cool the 1000w and will use my 6in to exhaust my tent....im hoping that will be enough:bigjoint::confused::???::neutral: thanx for the reply sno!

As long as you are pulling fresh air into your light setup... My fixture is not air cooled... I run two fans and an air conditioner... My temps stay at 74-78f no matter what time of the day

yea eventually i would like to graduate to open reflectors or maybe even vert....but right now tent is all i could do and temp is one of my big concerns.....so do you run opens cuz u want to sno? if so why? just wondering.

I run opens so I don't have to run ducting... I'm a licensed building contractor so it wouldn't be hard for me... Guess after fixing everyone else's shit I come home and am to lazy to doing anything else... Open hood, two fans and an ac.... Easy peasy.

I only run the T5( 6 bulb) when I'm cloning/vegging..otherwise i only have a 4 bulb t8 for mothers going. When I'm just running the T8 mother light it's usually in the lower 70's. When i run the T5 my room is usually around 78F and right around 82F at my canopy with it about 10" away. Seems to be about perfect for what I'm running. I can't put it any closer or vertical growth stops and they bush out like mad..not what I'm going for. I had a clip on fan clipped right to the light initially, blowing across the bulbs, but i got a 12" desk fan that oscillates which works much better now. Turning on that T5 will raise my room temps about 5F over the course of the day.

your still going to need an ac in flower if you want temps below 80*, youll be lucky to get down to 85 during flower which is still a bit too hot. I keep my flowering girls comfortable at 73*75* year round.

derpa derp...I always get t5 and t8 mixed...yea they do throw off some heat...I have t8 for my cloning table, then 2 t5's for veg and a 600(keeps it perfect for winter, but unplugged it when summer hit);)
what kind of lights do you run for flower? do use ac in summer?
