Ethics is always more important than profit IMO. If I can't trust/rely on someone, then I cannot work with or around them.

Customers are the most important part of a business.

employees are the backbone, you have nothing without.

in the past, i've had to find both, a good employee is without a doubt harder.

i'd rather cold call in the hot florida sun..

it's not a good thing if means of production imposes itself on peaceful (hard working) people when the increasing profits are shared only with shareholders.

Treating employees ethically is the only way to expect them to do the same. Something the scenario didn't model is the phenomenon where people who are treated better work harder. Ethics DOES have positive bottom line consequences in terms of productivity and innovation.

that's why smart businesses use bonus, spiff = cash incentive and works well..not to derail this thread but i noticed the company i'm working for is european no wonder! they know the value of paying your employees better than minimum, benefits and PTO.

Totally agree. I pay way over minimum with bonuses awarded randomly each week. Plus trips to New Orleans for "team building" and a few large scale parties. I also believe in fair pay, I don't just pay huge amounts because I couldn't afford to do it- they get what I think they deserve. Show me more and you get more, be a lazy dpuche and you get the same you were hired as.
