To be honest, I'll be happy when my arm heals and I don't have to take pain meds anymore...I'm scared of catching a bad habit here...

I hate those drugs, they make me feel like shit.
You can get a habit in a week. When you are able to stop, you need to ween yourself off or you will feel like shit.

Doctors handed me a basically unlimited supply of dangerous pain pills with no warning of impending addiction, much less health warnings.

Pure heroin is much less harmful.

Back to OP subject; I like to drink a beer or two. I don't like how I feel when I have more than that. I don't like how I act, either.

I like to smoke weed, munch edibles, vape and occasionally even dab. If things get to a point where that isn't enough pain relief (appendicitis, surgery and dental pain didn't come close to that level), I'm going to ask for a bullet instead of an opiate.

I have to eat a lot, but it does work for me. For now. I'm sorry it doesn't work better for you. I hated the side effects, especially the nausea.
