If you have any "tricks of the trade", or little tips for making the growing process easier, post them here! It would be awesome to see the cool, innovative and creative things people do to make their own growing process easier. I'm not looking for "here's my custom fert solution" or anything of that matter, but rather, physical, easy little tricks that you, personally, use to help your process. I'll start us off!
A couple little tricks I've learned...
- If you're growing from seed in a small container, you can make planting a seedling very easy, and always get it right in the center of your growing medium no matter what. Let's say you're using solo cups. You have your seedling in your solo cup, and your new, larger pot, awaiting the seedling. Simply take another solo cup, dig out a little soil, and then push the solo cup into the soil, making a mold of the cup in the soil. In other words, you're leaving an imprint of the solo cup in the soil, the same size and shape as your seedling's root/dirt ball. Gently push the very bottom of the solo cup on each side, and the seedling and dirt should pop right out into a solid mass with no damage (assuming you've watered in your seedling, and the dirt is nice and stuck together). You then have a hole in the new pot the exact size of your seedling's rootball. Just stick it in and push a little dirt on top- you're done. If you want the seedling to be exactly in the middle, just take out a measuring tape and align the hole with where the seedling is going to be planted, as well as the seedling's orientation in its current container.
- Want to get an awesome high resolution photo if you have a crappy phone or camera? Simply take your handy jeweler's loupe and position it in front of a camera lense, and snap away. Super simple, maybe even common sense, but this really makes taking high-res photos of your bud a lot easier if you have a crapola camera.
Not sure if either of these tricks is useful to anyone, or superior to any other method, but they've made my life a little easier. Why not share yours?
