I wish to start off with what I did on a step by step basis: no photos yet but if you want them I can post a few. I apologize to those who find this a bit long to read but I hope to find someone who took a similar road in salvaging hash.
*I decided to make bho using indica flowers for the body high and sleep effects.
* I did this using maybe about 5-7 grams of flower and came out to about a gram. I used about half a can of Puretane in short bursts through my glass tube that may hold about 3-4 grams at most. ( I know, small but Im on a budget often)
* I used good boiling water underneath the pyrex I blasted and scraped out while in a hurry so the bho got bubbly. The best way to describe it would be like the clear Gorilla Glue when it dries only more yellow. Tons of butane still packed in there with bubbles.
* Therefore getting to the next half of my experiment. I decided to break this batch down using everclear 151 proof since I had read about absolute amber so that
Purging is not necessary or rather the alcohol does it for you. I read a little AFTER i had finished blasting that night and It is ethanol so being harmless when evaporated. I softened up the batch and it started to turn a much much darker brown.
( I wanted to get a consistency of wax, soft sticky and easy to drop in a vape pen .)
*The mix got a bit too liquid and decided to let it dry. Soon it was like a wet hash consistency and I accidentally lit it on fire, seeing if it would go clear and not bubble. Now Im thinking at that point it was probably the ethanol that caught fire.
* I decided at this point I should resort to the part of the absolute method to dissolve the hash back in ethanol and freeze it for awhile.
*finally I get the chance to strain it through a coffee filter and it stays in a mason jar and naturally evaporates at a time. At this point I decide to just narrow down the sizes of the vessels I kept it in as the mixture evaporated to make it easier for collection.
It got really odd going from a golden color to almost a milky red color with the oil contributing to the tinge of red.
*Finally it drops down to a easier wad of oil but the water was still in the mixture and I let it sit for about 6 more hours uncovered and came home to this wonderful gooey putty-like texture. It was brown but a more pleasant brown with a sheen and EXACTLY the consistency I was hoping for. At this point Im glad I had purchased one of those small Oil Slick pads to collect it up and managed to put it in a silicon holder, ready for Vaping later! This looked to be a salvage job that went well although it isn't exactly amber like I thought from a few videos I watched. Oh well!
