1st Annual RIU fishing trip, Friday June 12th

Room booked at the Double TREE (of course) 1 mile from the marina for tomorrow night. I'll be meeting the boys in the morning (Thursday) on the New Easy Rider for a second day of fishing.

Bad part is im kinda from washington, even lived at a place called salmon beach. The only salmon Ive caught was as a kid. The creek we would play at had a huge salmon run and we could just pull them out by hand. Way down the creek there was a fish ladder we would play in and slide down the dam. durring the salmon run it was crazy to have a couple hundred salmon rubbing against you going up the ladder.

you would think there would be fences and protection but instead there's a parking lot and foot paths.

What wood is good for smoking salmon? I have some really nice oak from my yard that makes a great brisket and pork shoulder but it may be too strong of a flavor for salmon. I havent had a chance to do salmon but my smoker is pretty big. I'll gladly smoke some for anyone that wants it smoked.

They will fillet them at the dock, & you will only have to ice down the fillet's & not the heads & tails...

TWS made it ok, although he already looked sea sick, lol, it was a long drive for him.
I stopped by before they took off to check out the boat, myths, and rumors.
("they" not nuggs) landed 2 on the boat about 15 min ago, more reports as they come in. (I need to find out what cell service he uses, it can't be AT&T!)
