This just an open thread for RIU growers. I've grown this many times and had some surprising results. But thought maybe a few of you guys/girls had some stories to share.

My first endeavor was with bagseeds. I ended up with 1 female we cut way too early.

Many myself included started with bagseed. But when I first discovered the seedbanks, then it was a whole different ball game. Now, I'll always start out with the best genetics I can find.

I do not love nor hate bagseed. I perfer premium seeds. If I had to I would use them. I have made some very beautiful potent plants with bagseed.

Basically we all have done or maybe continue to do BAGSEED , but I'm interested if you guys think the quality of the seeds seem worse or a little better than years ago. Most of the problems with BAGSEED are of course seeds but noticed differences in taste and smell.

I had some " emergency " seeds stockpiled that I run ( separately ) with premium strains . But since I treat even ( street level swag ) with a full cure , unlike the dealers that use a grow and sell mentality. Most of the " corner " weed isn't cured very well , so I decided to give them plants a full cure after harvest and noticed some danky weed. ( a plus in my book )


I started this thread , to see what you are finding in your areas. Here in Cali , I got some Grand Daddy Kush , Mexican sativa , old school red hair , and SHIT WEED.

I grow quality strains now , but these BASTARD strains seem a bit different over the years.

i love the mexican bag seed every time they seem to make real heavy stuff ...

one time was better than some green bought from the homies...

its funny when u take it back to the dude and he tells yea were u got the beans from...

and to there surprise they ask how u make it better...shit i dunno?

at first it smells like lawn trimming until u cure i say pretty nice...

id cross some up with primo genetics one day just for fun..

Wow , especially since the neighborhood pharmacist ( down the block ) passes 1/4s for 25 bucks. It's brick weed ( rehydrated to sell ) some people don't know they do this trick.
Basically steaming slightly to add moisture.

But , I put a small bud under the scope and noticed mostly clear triches. That's why I popped those beans and thought " what if I cure the shit proper " ? Well obviously their Sativas are chopped too early , so I grew and let 4 plants go week12 , only because the triches and it's " TRUE " mature time. I was pleasantly surprised on its smell and taste. Earthy , spicy and nice golf ball NUGS.

The shittier plants grow almost spear like buds and really don't give a good product.
Burns well , fair looking triches but flavor is almost tobacco like , so in my experiments , if I notice this type of structure I pull plants. I grow these only for fun , but was interested in what's really floating around out there.

Nothing beats premium strains but I thought let's see happens.

id take a pepsi challenge to most common strain u find

not sayings its the top shelf but shit it can beat most common strains
(at least from my exp. and from da homie community they agree)

id say there primo strain beans on there own id be happy to include them in my garden any day

Another indication is the amount of immature beans coming out of mexi weed. There passing buds with light colored seeds , no way flower is even close to harvest.

But if I get some dark , speckled beans , then I keep them .

I've found that most of the time the product I've grown from bagseed is better than the original product. My MJ guru, Jorge Cervantes, says that is because large operations do not handle the product in ways that increase potency. Wholesale growers tend to just throw the product around without regard to delicate trichomes and that stifles quality.

these were from low grade Mexican pot.....I bought a 1/4 ounce while on holidays in Mexico and brought home 92 seeds.

I think bag seeds matter if there are breed in your climate. I worked at a co-op in Nor Cal for 3 years and I pulled some seeds out of GDPxTrainwreck pound. I'm not sure if it was a GDP female and Trainwreck male that seeded the plants. Or if Purple wreck was just all they had and it seeded aome plants idk for sure. So about 2 years ago this pound Looked and smelled great even after pulling ounces of seeds out lol. The seeds are doing great 3 months or so old in 120ish gallon pots(175 pots I hemmed down for space) there doing great 3 feet wide and mabe 4 feet tall from the top of the pot. I had 10 seeds 6 girls out of 10. I'm seeing mabe 3 different types of pheno's 2 indica 2 sative and 1 50/50 it looks like by growth only very tho idk about the smoke yet. Looking good tho so try to get seeds breed in your area is what I was getting at lol loke today 105 lololol shade cloth FTW but the plants were totally fine cuz they know it gets hot lol
