He is on his way out after 16 years with me. He has lost a bunch of weight and is really starting to have a hard time laying down. When he is standing he wobbles like he is going to fall over.

I thought he was gone this morning when I got up. I could hardly tell he was breathing and it took a lot of wiggling to get him to wake up.

The thought of loosing my baby is kicking my butt!!! I need to decide where I will bury him and get started on digging that hole..... I'm going to go cry for awhile!!! :cry:

I'm in the same boat, I have a 15 yr old bassett hound that is getting close, he can't see , hear, or smell anymore, & his hind legs are wobbly, fatty tumors, but his tail still wags up a storm & really perks up at feedings.thoughts are with you & mr. D

As many times as I have been down this road it still kills me inside!! D cannot hear or see either... Every now and then he leans against me like he used to. The last week or so he has really gone down hill.

This is a doggy I found in the middle of the freeway busted and broken.. Malnourished and dehydrated to the point of death... He was around 5 months old or so..

I saved his life and it took him 14 years to stop being afraid of people. He used to head for the farthest corner of the yard when anyone would come over and just bark up a storm!! The day I met my current wife we were sitting in the back yard. I was telling her D's story and why he would not come near us. At that exact moment D ran across the yard and jumped into her lap!!! :o

She just looked at me and said "He likes me" !!! That was 10 years ago.....

Fawk!!!!!! :cuss:
 
Neighbor calls at 0530 this morning and says they need help. This little guy was stuck in the canal. His hind legs were stuck on moms pelvis. I was able to get my arms in there and rotate him and he slid out like jelly.

I asked why didn't they call the vet. Apparently the vet told them I'm a horse whisperer, lol, smh.



After all that, THEN MOMMA WOULDN'T LET HIM NURSE!

She was real irate so I stayed with her and calmed her down. She would only let him nurse with me holding her head, so I stayed for a couple hours till the foal had his fill and took a milk nap.

Then I went home, showered, and got ready for my shift.

Loooong day, I'll go check on them tomorrow and make sure momma is being nice to her baby.


Can't wait till I've got my own lil fuckers running around...
