^^ Good thread idea, and I like that one, too. When I got my Roku 3 last year, I spent a lot of time on the YT TED Channel. Very cool to see the talks in 1080p. I used to think they were just about science/tech stuff, but they cover just about every subject imaginable. Here's a great one about arguably the world's greatest beatboxer, this dude is not human -

TED talks, for the most part, are shit.

They seek to simplify and often trivialize really complex issues the world faces. This is really nice for high school teachers to show their classes or to share on your facebook wall but really we need to be educating the public about the HIGHLY complex systems we are born into. One person with an "inspirational" message walks on stage and the psuedo intellectuals flock to it. So many of these talks I have watched assume ALL pieces are in place to solve problems they bitch about they just need to be rearranged like a jigsaw puzzle. Its simply not the case and its hypocritical

if you enjoy these "innovative talks" you're part of the problem
