I have a 250 watt hps lamp I would like to utilize during vegetation. Any suggestions?

If it were me and I was trying to get set up I would be more inclined to get some blue spectrum floros with fixture for vegging. It will be better for you down the road. You will be able to use the floros for vegging the clones you take and use the 250watt hps for flowering. VV

Nope bro..the brands are all comparable and that lamp will do ya fine.
Everyone does it differently, but I think you have the right idea with the conversion lamp. Rather than buying floros, I would go with the conversion..ramp up a decent crop..toss a bag out there/bring in some cash..and if I was gonna expand for the future....I'd spend my $$ on a 600 hps and then use that sweet little 250 for yer veg light.
If you need a floro veg light..just get a cheapo shop light..a 4 ft'r and go with that. Clones need very little light at first so they work very well for this.

Hi bt dt. I have followed some of your posts and you have established your creds. This answer has me confused though. He is considering spend $85+ for a conversion bulb which will be good for vegging. That will leave him without a light for vegging/ cloning when he starts to flower the plants. For less money he could get 2 of those four foot fixtures with the right spectrum bulbs for vegging. Added to the 250 watt hps he has he will veg faster and have lights to continue vegging/ cloning when he switches to flowering. I stand by my original answer. VV

Actually I left something out. I plan on getting a 600 watt hps lamp to replace the 250 hps.

If you're getting a digital 600w, they'll run both HPS and MH bulbs without the need for conversion bulbs.
However, if you're planning on using the 600w for flowering and the 250 for vegging, get a 250w MH conversion bulb.
Fluoro's also provide a pretty good option for vegging as you long as you use the 6,400k ones, the light requirements for vegging are a lot less than for flowering, so a 600w for flowering and either the 250w or fluoro's should work fine.
