Hey guys! I'm on my second grow and just wanted to share

I ordered four RW-150's from Area 51 LED so just waiting for those to ship (they should be on their way soon). Until then, these girls will be growing under a 4 ft - 8 bulb T5HO Quantum Badboy fixture.

Start Date: April 10th (currently ~30 days old from seed)
Grow Area: 5x5 ft Gorilla Grow Tent
Strain: Northern Light - Feminized from Nirvana Seed Bank
Soil: Fox Farm's Happy Frog cut with 40% perlite
Nutes: Fox Farms Basic Trio

I did have a calcium deficiency last week, so I added a little cal/mag into their watering and they seem to be doing great now, imo.

Thanks for the invite, dude! I'm looking forward to seeing how the LED's perform. I'll check out your page and make sure to follow your journal also. Good luck to you as well :bigjoint:

Edit: Btw, nice to see a fellow Michigander on here. I was born and raised there myself.

Good stuff, just curious where are you now? I've got 2 auto flowers going in a white widow and big bang. I've got a few more premium plants currently in seedling now. The rest are bag seed, but the bag they came out of were fire.

They're all at about the 7th node now and 7-9" tall and are showing their sex. Confirmed that they're all girls except for 1 which appears to be growing a little slower than the rest and is only at the 6th node and not showing pre-flowers yet.

It's a little late to top them I guess since it's pretty standard to do it at the 4th or 5th node, but I went ahead and topped the four tallest ones anyways to help fill out my space and allow the shorter ones to catch up to help keep an even canopy. Will be looking into installing a screen pretty soon. If anyone knows of any good DIY tutorials for installing a net, any links are appreciated.

Subbed up.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who got the cal def on NL

I dont remember how long its been in veg, my guess is almost a month (dont smoke and plant LOL) it seems to be cloning similar to aurora indica so thats good but i didnt realise i had the cal def till after cloning.. :( S'all good everything looks good.

Cant wait for more posts. I harvested a NL auto and it was THE BOMB so hopefully we'll both have good results with NL after cal def :)

This is my 2nd grow with NL and both times got the early cal def. Also had it on the clones (which I had to throw out for other reasons) from my first grow. They seem to bounce back quick tho after a watering with 1/4 str cal/mag. I'll have to remember to give them an early dose of it on week 2 of veg next time and just avoid it altogether.

I love the grow shape of NL... it's beautiful. Update and pics incoming!

Update: End of Week 5 From Seed

So they're all getting pretty big now. They're anywhere from 8 to 10 inches tall. So much for topping and trying to stunt the taller ones... they're 2 tops are already shooting up. I was hoping to transplant to 3 gal pots soon (when they're all at least around 12" tall) and start flowering BUT... my lights still have not come in.

I emailed A51 2 days ago and I guess the warehouse overlooked my order and I can either wait until June 1st for them to ship from the new warehouse or have them ship from their Hong Kong storage which he said would take 7-10 days. I'm guessing business days, which would be the 27th.

Either way, I think they may be due for a transplant but I can't go any bigger until I get my lights because my T5's just won't have the coverage. Which sucks, because right now I'm having to water every 2 days. I think in another week, I'll be watering once a day :wall: I may just have to bust out the ol' HPS!

So today I went ahead and set up the 1000w MH, dimmed to 50% because the ceiling lights were flickering even at 75%. Apparently the 15-amp breaker that this room is on can't hang. The temps are staying at a steady 76-78 degrees at leaf level (taken with a non-contact IR thermometer) which I was pleasantly surprised by as the leaves were hitting up to 85 degrees under the T5's.

I also watered and picked up 4 cubic feet of Happy Frog and 5-gallon pots to get ready to transplant sometime early this week. I did notice that the bottom leaves are starting to yellow and get brown spots. Anyone care to guess what this could be from? New growth and the rest of the plant looks fine. I'm just worried this may spread upwards.

How much CaL MG are you adding to the water? the blackening makes me think thats what it could be.

Dont be afraid to give it that full teaspoon of calmg if its at least 3.5 weeks of age total. if you're using fox farms i know the light blue bag will eventually give you N def. I dont remember if I saw a test for the red / maroon colored bag.

Im some what stoned so my typing sucks. Mine is one month and it had the super CALMG def and it started to spot and yellow. the calmg def can lead to Nitrogen def in this strain bc i noticed some of my leaves going that light green color so i made sure the light measurement was correct then i started adding more N to their watering schedule.

It's said that you soil will feed a plant in veg for a bout a month to 3 months depending, then you have to make sure it has what it needs. if you've used the soil before this can attribute to lesser times. and of course some nutes are time released so you may need to check ph and all that based on what you water with.

Sorry I lost this phone for a while, I have plenty of updates now coming. I've since received the solar storm 880, and solar flare 220. I've been using them for about a week now. besides running into a major heat problem because of me not wanting to do the ventilation, I did it quick then.. it wasn't as hard as I thought and now temperature stays at about 83 with the light on. I will have updates coming soon, if this is not the place to make a journal somebody please let me know.

PS, the bigger one is white widow, the smaller is big bang, its slightly shaded..

The seedling is big bang , before LED when it just sprouted. Note updates coming soon in detail.

Dick lol.

Andrew if you don't know, dimming lights especially metal halide ruins your bulbs life and ruins them in general.. DO NOT DIM EXPENSIVE BULBS. You'll just be buying more lol
Heh, yeahhh I know I just don't really care though. Only 2nd time using that bulb and will probably be the last. My LED's finally came in.

Update: End of Week 7 (From Seed)

It's been a while but I've been extremely busy with work at my day-job so I haven't really had time to do anything.

My lights finally came in about a week ago. I love them... they run super cool and the max temps are about 79.5 degrees which is pretty reasonable. I also bought a new cabinet from Target for like $60 to store all of my nutes and grow tools. Which is so nice because I didn't really have anywhere to put all that shit before so it led to a lot of clutter which I hate.

Transplanting was a huge bitch... had to mix soil/perlite a bunch of times because I kept running out of soil... used a lot more than I thought I would. My last grow I only had 2 monster plants in 5-gallon pots which was manageable and not too much work.... after this transplant I realized how much work 11 plants in 5-gallon pots is going to be now, but hopefully it will be worth it. At least I don't have to water as often.

Btw... see if you guys can tell me wth is going on with this one plant. I'll add it to the pics below... it's only happening on one plant...

9 Weeks from Seed

Here's another photo update guys... They're looking beautiful and smelling absolutely delicious. Can't wait to see what they look like in 6 weeks. Really wish I would have installed a net to keep the canopy even, but oh well. Maybe I still can and it's not too late though? What do you guys think? Here's some pictures from various angles...
