Don't spray. Here's another pic. Looks like tiny black bugs? Although I did spray w/ Neem Oil yesterday during lights out, after seeing the damage, so I don't know if that is what dead mites look like! Hung a Hot Shots No Pest strip and have pepper spray ready. Thanks for the reply!

Looks like exactly what I have. I think it's thrips- they are decimating my ripening plants. I've read spinosad will kill them and neem oil will prevent them but I'm in same boat.

I think you are right, after doing some reading. I read that the black dots are thirp-poop. I might get some SM-90 and do a 1-5 spray. I read that the No Pest Strip won't get rid of them. (I thought it was mites or white flies at first).

This pic I pulled online. Looks like the same thing in my pics in the first post. Thanks for the heads-up!

Yep we definately got thrips- seen a couple fully grown fuckers in my grow room today. I've got them yellow sticky traps everywhere - they do catch the occasional gnat but the thrips do not get caught in them. I've read some peeps are using those hot shot pest strips but The Rev- editor of skunk magazine and author of true living organics - says they are harmful to the beneficial microlife in the soil which doesn't matter if you are not trying to grow organically & recycle your soil like I am.
I have read a lot of good things about Monterey Spinosad spray- they say 2 applications will get rid of them and it is omri organic- it's safe to spray on buds and leaves. It dissipates after 15 days from UV light so if you are near harvest it's ok to use even on fruits and veggies you might consume - I don't like the idea of using pesticides but this stuff seems ok. A brushing of neem oil on the fans will also work but not instantly. You can put diluted neem oil directly into the roots to make your plants undesirable to the buggers but again it takes time to work. Neem makes bugs forget how to eat and fuck and stops them from molting slowly killing them off which seems to me to be best used as a preventative measure.
I have plants in veg in a separate area yet the thrips have already managed to start munching them. They are showing tiny white squiggly lines in a few bottom fans. It only took about a 3 week time span for these MFers to get outta control. I really thought it was cal mag for awhile until the leafs showed that silvery texture which I now know was the bugs sucking out the chlorophyll.

Haven't gotten the SM-90 yet. I'll ask the guys at the hydro store what they think about SM-90 and Monterey Spinosad and "Don't bug me" spray by FoxFarm. Read a post from 2009. Thanks. I have 4 more weeks, then shutting it down for the summer. I'll let you know how it goes!

Yeah DBM was another I read a lot about & many growers say they've had success with it. I no longer trust my local hydro guys- seems like they are only interested in trying to upsell me shit instead of giving me sound advice. I am only a couple weeks from harvesting; hoping these plants will make it but they are dying especially towards the bottom half of the plants. My spinosad will arrive tomorrow hopefully

Meant to water yesterday, and opened the cab this morning and saw this (see pic). I think what happened (besides needing water) was the ventilation was cut off (by me) putting an Ona Gel in the exhaust duct. I pretty much blocked the whole thing. My bad. So I'm hoping they make a comeback! I peaked at them tonight (lights come on in an hour) and the leafs are coming back. Like an open umbrella. Damn though. I'm going to leave the hps off tonight, just cfl on, then check them out after a day. If ok, will fire up the hps. I'm sure they'll be fine. It's the thrips that will wipe them out first (if I don't kill them). Ha. (I keep typing "thirps")

I ended up skipping the hydro guys (Funny you just said that!) and I ordered "Don't Bug Me" from FoxFarm from Amazon, and some Blue Sticky Thrips Leafminder Traps. I'm same as you, a couple more weeks until harvest. What a pain! Hate the thrips! I have Neem Oil already. Might throw in some ladybugs after all that.

Also, these guys look badass! http://www.planetnatural.com/product/thrips-predator-thripex/

Hey I don't know how long you've been using ona but a buddy of mine who I trade clones with was using it heavy last cycle & it made his whole crop taste like dryer sheets including the BHO I ran from the trims. Use that stuff sparingly.
That neem oil should kill off the thrips in a week or so

Yeah, I've heard that. Never put the Ona w/ flowering plants. I use it to mask the exit/exhaust from the cabinet. I have a carbon scrubber that cuts 98% of the smell. It's the 2% that lingers on the side of the house that I sometimes worry about. Depends on the strain. Thanks again! I'm still waiting on traps and bug spray. Good to know about the Neem.

Oh, the plants came back after watering. Hit them w/ the "Don't bug me" spray today during lights out. Will water with a diluted Neem solution, and hang a blue strip, and should be good to go until the end!

On Sunday I sprayed a product called GoGnats that I had that says it works in thrips & guess it does because they are gone. Sprayed an application of the Monterey spinosad stuff last night to be sure & cut off all the dead shit. Plants are recovering nicely now especially the top fan leaves that were less affected by thrips. Here's my critical jack plant - looks like we may still have a decent harvest despite these bugs. Good luck to you and happy growing!!!

Looks good! After my treatment, I'm just going to let them ride out. I experimented with smaller containers this round (6 plants in 1 gal each instead of 4 plants in 3 gal each). I think I'm liking the 4 in 3 gal better, with a longer veg, but we will see how it all ends up in the end. Peace!

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Anyone know what this is?
I created a thread yesterday in the problems section but I had no response so this is my second thread this is posted in. Sorry for the lack of patience but I want to take care of this today
