I just run them on 1000w. Haven't tried to boost them up higher yet. Maybe this run ill run half the room on 1150 and half on 1000 to see if it makes a difference
Very very very Nice space. I'm jelly.
Nice room brother. Excited to follow along for this. Lookin good
Very informative information on how HPS bulbs work and the importance of bulb temperature. If all of this information is accurate, and it probably is, I would be embarrassed as an engineer that designed most of these air cooled reflectors.Nope, I just really think the de's are that much more efficient. I didn't change anything in the room besides the lights.

Most hid bulb manufacturers don't recommend air cooled hoods..............If the air is cold enough it could cause a voltage drop on the arc. 400c nominal and 650c for de sodium arcs. Running ambient grow room temps over the bulb should be an issue though imo.
There is still some confusion on this,
So it is a no no to air cool the double ended HPS but ok on a single ended HPS because it has an "insulating" layer around the arc tube?
So the DE bulbs are nitrogen filled compared to the standard vacuum of a regular hps bulb. The vacuum is a good insulator and nitrogen is not which makes them sensitive to temperature change.
Their was a guy in here that ran cold outdoor air in his cool tubes, and he definitely noticed the mogul bulbs dimming...............switched to pulling it straight from his grow room==== problem solved.
yeah the ac/de hood is unique in that aspect, nice design. Is their a reason why you choose ushio over philips?
